Go to the parents of youth crime fatalities and life changing injuries and peddle your white collar crime story.

The Mayor has failed to address drug related crime from supply to end user.

I am all for punishing " middle class users " more, I think Shaun Bailey is on to something.

SDK plays the " the cuts have taken away the youth club " bollocks card.

You're not going to convince a teen drug dealer making lots of money to change his life because there is a ping pong table at the church hall.

SDK and his ilk are happy to have a large dependant section of the population so they can have a drum to beat against the Govt.

Changing the environment to improve the situation is a long term project and if you dare mention something as obvious as fatherless homes you get slaughtered ( irony here )

Must be truly terrible living on a gang controlled estate, Harry Brown was not far off.

Your whataboutery on financial crime is a distraction from what the subject is here.

With respect mate...you live in Hong Kong. You have no idea what it's like living in this city today.

You're a Tory and I get that you want it to fit your narrative that a Muslim Labour mayor has led to anarchy on the streets. But London is basically the same today as it was 20/30/40 years ago. Yes, crime in poor neighbourhoods linked to gang's and drugs, but there hasn't been a particular increase in that at all.

I live next to one of the biggest estates in the city, and I've worked with kids from these areas for years. For what it's worth, I agree with you that fatherless families is a major problem, although what you think we can do about it beats me. But I also see how lack of access to facilities impacts kids at an early age and plays a role in leading them down a dark lane, as does cuts to primary intervention, social services and in school support.

The fact as well, that youths can't get on the housing ladder, that jobs are scarce. These are the things parents talk to me about as worrying, not just the allure of gangs. And those things are deeply interconnected to the lax approach we take to high end crime in this city. In fact, I often wonder what role it plays, when you get billionaire Arabs and Russians walking round in balenciagas and LVs just a stone throw away from the kids on the block. Aren't we feeding the aspirations for quick fixes to poverty that feeds gang culture?

Blaming Sadiq is a bit like blaming bats for coronavirus. They are an insignificant pawn in a larger game.

If punk ever happened I'd be preaching the law, instead of listenin to Lydon lecture BBC4

White collar crime is just business serial, and it makes us have some of the best banker christmas bonus in the world, something we can all be proud of!Over 4000 bankers in the city got over £ 1 million bonus at christmas for the past 10 years, they used to just buy all the flats being built in London and suburbs off plan, and a year later do exactly the same again, and how many are on 500k and beyond bonus who knows? Nurses, we don"t mind clapping for you, but buy a flat in or near work in London, get the overnight sleeper and stop complaining! We are top or there abouts, of the white collar crime/bankers bonus league- lets all share in this great achievement- something truly to be proud of!

You have no idea, who I am, what I know and how much time I spend in London so your post is an opinion based on no knowledge.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion regardless of how ill informed ( about me ).

My post makes no reference to the ethnicity or religion of the mayor.

Kids are probably going to see more ostentatious wastes of money on branded goods from PL footballers than Arabs and Russians.

London is not basically the same as it was 20/30/40 years ago, how can it be?

My issues with the Mayor are to do with his arrogance and political posturing, his hiring more people to do his PR , his casual handing out of jobs to friends anf awarding untendered contracts. This is not that much different from previous mayors but does not make it right or acceptable.

Under the previous mayor crime did reduce, that's simply the fact.

Now there is a candidate from a BAME background to challenge the incumbent the Labour machine in LOndon is worried they won't automatically get most BAME votes, very similar attitude to Dems/Biden in US.

But this is somewhat off my original point which is the mayor has the ability to help in crime reduction but the current one chooses to do nothing and use the problem as a political tool IMO.

I will not be making any guesses as to your personal circumstances or life experience as you do with me.

This much-maligned mayor is actually doing a great job for Londoners.

In only 4 years air pollution affecting 2 million Londoners has been cut to 119,000.

Prof Stephen Holgate, a special adviser on air quality to the Royal College of Physicians, said: “Air pollution is a scourge on society, especially harming the young and old. What the mayor of London has shown in his first term is that major reductions in toxic pollutants can be achieved and that businesses and the public are willing to make the necessary changes to deliver this.” He said the pollution cuts would have enormous benefits for Londoners.

Credit where it is due, Johnson would not have reached the legal level for another 193 years, not that he was bothered.

Less overcrowded NHS hospitals filled with wheezing and coughing Londoners, diesel fumed cars expelling their nitrates, less tory corruption and cronyism.

From a Londoner, more of the same please, Mayor Khan.

You don't think could have anything to do with the lockdown?

Nearly all countries and all major cities across Europe have seen drastic reductions in traffic, travel and commercial activity due to Covid. Hence pollution much lower. There were a couple of months with barely a car on the road. That can hardly be attributed to any great move by Khan.

Or the that every day since the first reading was taken has been better. That reading for a comparison was taken on the worst day in 30 years for air quality. Pr emptied exactly for what has been put on all Londoners and commuters.

The congestion charge is indeed one of the reasons for the vastly improved pollution reduction and that figure was pre-covid.

Someone said blame the post not the poster so I say, poster is entitled to his opinion

The post , however, is IMHO a load of rubbish. Look at the expenditure on SK's PR / self promotion headcount increase.

How many young Londoners are killed or have life changing injury from violence compared to pollution ?

I hope Shaun Bailey give's him a good contest. SK cannot so easily play the race card now.

London is polarised either for or against Khan, don't think there are many undecided so he will likely retain his position which is bad news if you are young and vulnerable to criminal pressure.

Good news if you are family and friends group of Khan.

I think whoever is Mayor does the same thing because they can. Don't tell me Labour or any other party is more or less corrupt than any other
