An alternative view. Shocking injury record. Needs lots of games. We operate at a tight margin where risk has to be kept to a minimum. This rules out giving him the games with us. 4 months in a good owls team will give him plenty of game time to restore match fitness and will tell whether he is ready to come back in the summer or offload. He is still young.

Oh and as to the op what a lot of hot air. Selling AWB without a replacement was a mistake.

However tosun ferguson and Bowen would have been a superb January window.

We got one he pulled a hamstring bad luck.

One has a medical issue.

The other used the club as a platform to a bigger club.

Where is the clubs culpability in any of that? Are you just angry that we don't yet have the assets and drawing power of teams you class as rivals? Well I'm sorry we don't.

Where did you get that from?

We put in a bid for the player which was accepted by Hull (allegedly) whereupon West Ham put in a higher bid and the player went there instead. I don't see anyone using Palace as a platform to sign for a relegation struggler instead

I think it’s been a poor window, signing just the one player isn’t what concerns me so much...it’s the fact that we do have gaps in the squad and we have now failed to sign a right back in two successive windows.

I think another point to raise is that some fans will rightly notice the potential of this squad...it’s a squad with several genuine prem class players. Plug the gaps and we can really start to look forward. So for me the past two transfer windows have felt like a opportunity missed by the club.

Now my third point is that while I wouldn’t blame the club for unforeseen medical issues, I do believe the club should have a bigger list of potential targets. KWP seems to have been the 1st choice target and Ferguson was perhaps the second choice. My concern is that the KWP deal looked in trouble over a week ago and we have ended up with egg on our face trying to complete a deal on transfer deadline day...this simply shouldn’t happen with two windows to plan for this position.

Interestingly there were 11 deals completed in the Premiership on deadline day and 3 of those were full backs so other teams didn't seem to have our problems recruiting for that position

Maybe they weren't trying to use Green Shield Stamps or Nectar points as currency or trying to buy on the never never ?

I was under the impression that we were skint.

For me, there’s a lot of confusion.

It appeared we had made official contact to sign Bowen and he was keen to join but were gazumped by West Ham. Why on earth did we not then up our bid? I honestly believe there is money there to spend which is why be made a bid of £20 million+ for that Russian striker in the summer.

As for the Ferguson situation, whilst this is frustrating, I believe he is out of contract in the summer so Im hoping an agreement has been made with his representatives for him to join in the summer once his knee has been attended to. They will be keen to get it seen to as his injury is in the public’s knowledge now therefore until he’s had the required surgery, other clubs will likely be put off. This means that we will get him on a free transfer at least.

I anticipate money being spent in the summer after what would have been a year to 18 months of spending very little. As for now, we will stay up which is always the first goal. We have players returning to the first team (Van Aanholt, Townsend and Milivojevic) who can see us through to achieve this. We can then take stock of the situation.

I believe we will sign Ferguson in the summer and will make moves for other young players such as Eze from QPR and Watkins from Brentford for example.

The fly in the ointment with this deal is that WBA may well be in the PL themselves and might wish to tie him down themselves.

I see Maximin, another player we showed interest in last summer window has turned around Newcastle’s game against Oxford virtually single handed.

He looks very useful, quick and direct. Have to say I am sick to death of seeing players we have an interest in never appearing at the club. If we had Maximin on one wing and Zaha on another we would look totally different going forward. The owners just can’t see it, or aren’t interested. Sadly the latter is most likely.
