I remember when we used to get linked with everyone then either sign someone disappointing or no one at all.

Looking through all Transfer Talk on various sites, we hardly get linked with anyone now.

Doesnt bode well for Roy's 4 or 5 players.

That could of course be a better sign that we are now doing dealings as they should be done ie: on the quiet. But I won’t hold my breath

Depends I would rather have 2 really good players than 4 - 5 average

The Yankee Doodles will be sitting on their wallets. If they don't perceive a risk to the club's PL status why would they spend any money that they wouldn't want to invest?

I'm still not sure why they got involved in the first place - not a place for anything but a long term investor.

wish we would disrupt the Scott Sinclair move to Preston. He might just have a bit left to offer and would be an ideal squad man who'd get minutes for a couple seasons.

I know it's not solving anything, but he's worth it on a free. we need such options.

Maybe now brexit is resolved they'll have another look. They surely under appreciated the task of overhauling the club

But we need to concentrate on solutions to our most pressing current problems.

We have 5 central defenders yet only 2 full-backs.A number of midfielders but a few are much-of-a-muchness with not much creativity.
We have a striker who has only scored 1 in about 37 games, another who has hardly played due to injuries and the only other one is Ayew who has never been that prolific.
We have no cover in wide areas.

We will not be able to wave a 'Magic wand' in January to solve all of these issues but we really need to address the more urgent needs IE Strikers,Right-back and in midfield. But of course finances will dictate and supporters might be very disappointed with our transfer activity.

We need to be able to have cover in wide positions, ideally with some goal threat. Sinclair still has that. We do also need to address those other issues you identify. But lose Wilf and Andros and we have no width at all. He's just a good cheapo choice for a few years.

Alas, the yanks want out and they own 67% of the club.

Roy will be lucky to get a £4 or £5 million budget.

Roy said pointedly a few weeks ago that frees and loans would not be sufficient in terms of bolstering the squad.
So far the strongest rumours have been around loans (Tosun, Walker Peters) and an unwanted soon to be available player (Ibe).
We still seem to be operating on a shoestring even with the AWB money at our disposal.
