There's an awful lot of Beetles music that I'd say hasn't stood the test of time. Same for Michael Jackson, U2, Elvis. There are loads and they gain popularity because a music executive sees dollars.. Among more niche acts, I love a lot of Nick Cave records. Perhaps he's not so niche? I dunno.

Got to see him live for the first time a couple of years ago and him and the band were incredible. His latest album is a melancholic masterpiece. A sombre but beautiful homage to his son. Well worth a listen but it's not one for all occasions.
