WetSpam having to sell expensive players that no one seems to want, before they can buy, does place Palace in an advantageous position...fingers crossed.

We often "lead the race" (as the article puts it) for a player but then either fall at the last fence or run out of steam and get overtaken. I'll believe it when I see him holding up the new Palace shirt alongside SP and saying how pleased he is to be a Palace player.

Wilf hasnt set the world on fire this season and gone missing in games so one bad game doesnt make him a bad player, could be a good buy if we get him

Don't waste your time with jealousy. Sometimes your ahead, sometimes your behind, the race is long. But in the end it's only with yourself!! |

Dean Smith and Villa could be attractive to him as he 'cut his teeth' with them, or maybe he'd prefer to stay in London, let's see.

Not sure he is worth £18m let alone £25m.

The most frustrating thing is he had a clause in his contract last year that allowed him to move for £10m. We bid less than that clause thinking they had to sell and they instead sold Maupay which gave them the funds they needed and the clause expired so we missed out on him. I fully respect our need to negotiate hard, but sometimes we don't half shoot ourselves in the foot. The best bit is, Brentford will probably sell Watkins for £20m+ and buy Anjorin for £8m who everyone will scramble around for next summer for £25m. They're very good at finding a player and selling them a couple of seasons later for loads more.

I have seen him on other days , In general if Brentford click, he tends to click, It’s a team game . I don’t say he is not worth’ a punt , but I do say not at £20 mill. I think Brentford are riding a wave , that they wouldn’t be allowed to do in the Premier . On that basis they are over valuing all of their players.

I can't imagine Watkins for the price. I would think we could get Fraser for free and Eze or Antonio for around 15 mil. No need for Watkins then.
