Where did I say we should buy him? why defelct if you are sure sure you are correct? Did you not bother to read the Premier League's own stats which showed he has 5 assists as was claimed and to which you replied he doesn't? Or would that not square with what you've been arguing? What does that tell us...
If you come to a fork in the road, take it. |

What does that tell us... I wouldn't bother arguing with this guy, he pumps out stats but even those are dubious apparently. I doubt highly he has any practical knowledge of football beyond the internet. Know quite a few blokes like that, almost always Man united 'fans', they'd be useful in a quiz but not on your 5 a side team.
Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!! |

A lot will depend on how keen Spurs are to move him on if we're talking about a sale, so we may not even have to pay as much as 15m (I could see a deal based on meeting certain targets rather than cash up front). Furthermore, Palace will have some PL appearances to look at to make a judgement on, whereas for Championship and foreign players there is always an element of gamble involved. Maybe they'll get it wrong, but at least they'll have some evidence. I remember mattteo and some others saying we should take £20m for AWB because there are loads of players just as good in the foreign leagues at full-back for 5-10m; this is not to slag off mattteo, or anyone else, but rather to point out how hard it is to actually put a price on players. Who would have thought we'd get 50m for a player with such limited experience and who still can't attack very effectively. If the reports are to be believed KWP may well not be our first choice anyway with the likes of Ferguson at WBA possibly now a target of Spurs and Bogle may well want to stay and work with Rooney.

I did. I admit I did. I still think that's a good price for AWB. If the board sold him for 50 million, then that's amazing. But there isn't Manchester United spending gazillions every window. If there was another team from Europe outside from United, City, PSG or Madrid, he'd have been sold for 20 million, not 50. I'll admit my mistake as I was really not part of the Palace board to know what offers were coming in. But what I'm saying thet KWP doesn't have the sale possibility of AWB Edited by mattteo (09 Jan 2020 3.07pm)

My point was, while you can say a player like Bogle would only cost say 10m, Derby may well not want to sell him for less than 20m, even if he is not actually worth that. Freedman alluded to being held to ransom by clubs over the summer, which suggests while in theory there are cheaper options out there, in reality they often come at an inflated price. Spurs fans seem divided on whether KWP should be sold, which suggests there is some potential there, as if he was that bad they would all be cheering his departure. I'll admit I've only seen him a couple of times, but he at least looks like an upgrade on Kelly, who increasingly looks like what he is, a centre-back being played out of position.

I'm not sure why you're saying he doesn't have the resale value, he's only 22, if he had 2-3 years for Palace and with regular football improved to become first choice, we "could" not only get our money back but possibly sell for profit as he'd then be at his peak at 24-25 years old. This topic is getting a little silly. Originally posted by mattteo

As you rightly say, price and worth are two entirely different figures. Wilf is not worth £80m, but he is to us hence his valuation. I think £15m for KWP is highish but not extraordinary, and say £12m for Bogle the same, but if it actually gets them through the door then it’s worth it given our current situation.
