Until their is a change of ownership I don’t see our transfer policies changing much. But I don’t see how anyone can make any moans about Parish and his reign. In under 10 years he has given us the best CPFC ever and no sign of him taking his foot off the pedal.

Thread name was changed so I’m going to post accordingly!

Still not a sniff of a signing.

I’m not even sure if I’m worried or not, it’s the not knowing that drives me mad. Are we going to wait until the last minute again, in which case does that mean 4 points from first ten games? Are we struggling to sign players? Is there a plan at work here? Are we able to reinvest any of the AWB money? Do we have any funds + AWB money? Is it another season without a striker because that would be insane surely? Are we going to sign anyone at all?

It’s the not knowing that kills me but also trying to ignore that feeling of hoping a big and pleasant surprise is brewing as probably not!

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!

I think the budget is very tight.
I think we’ll try and utilise the loan system again for two players.
The disappointment is that we have not already lined them up, on tour and working with rest of the squad.
Ayew still has not officially joined and I assume this is to save on wages as we knew he was involved in AFCON and would not be available for much of pre-season so we may as well wait until he’s available to play.
There are players in the squad like Riedewald and Sorloth that Hodgson won’t use but are probably difficult to sell.
He’s a conservative manager who will only use the youngsters as a last resort which is probably right at this stage.
The squad stills looks well short and to those who think this stage of the season is unimportant we kick off in a few weeks in a weaker position than last season.

Calm down everyone, still 26 days of the window left!
Seriously though there is no way we can even contemplate selling Wilf with the lack of time to replace/ rebuild.
I doubt we will do much, a Right back, striker and a loan or two I reckon.

Not many clubs are likely to loan out strong players early in case they end up needing them. There’s no point in us loaning in weak or potential players like we did with Bamford. Ayew is different because we know he can fill in and he’s been here before. Not inspiring but required backup. He’s no here yet because of axpost Afcon break as mentioned.

I still think there is a strong possibility of Zaha going.

And if he does go then it needs to be done quickly so that the club can then go about their transfer business.

That could be the reason why we haven't signed anyone other than the in the pipeline Ayew.

And I find it hard to believe that we are going to keep the trio of Benteke, Wickham and Sorloth. I think at least one of those will get loaned out if we bring that '' prolific '' striker in.

Great idea, I need a place to moan!
We have played the brinkmanship game with our pemier place for two seasons now and eventually the ball will drop. Last season we started weaker , lost Cabaye and RLC and didnt have Meyer or Kouyate ready. This season we are doing the same, lost Bats and AWB and any replacements wont be ready. In the meantime important squad members , Dann, JimmyMac, and Ward are nearing their useby dates and we havent stengthened behind them.
So its the usual story are there 3 weaker teams than us? Sheffield United and Norwich will struggle. Villa may do a Fulham but I think they have a good club ethic and will be ok. Brighton look in trouble, a change of direction and little or no recruitment. Newcastle under Bruce could be a disaster. Southampton will either head for seventh or bomb same with Watford. We may just get another season from others incompetence.
Or we get the two lads from Brentford and go back to bed.

Agree. But the striker is going to be another loan again so that won’t happen now because nobody will loan one out now. We should’ve brought a right back in though I agree. I think we will, we’re just playing at something financial related doing it.

What would really give us a lift on last season would be a decent attacking midfielder loaned in, in addition to a loaned striker and permanent RB.

its all up in the air because of Zaha staying or going which I think is 50/50. if he stays nobody in accept a couple of loans and a RB, if he goes major team reconstruction,

If he went today we would have 25 days for ‘major team reconstruction’ . The reality is we can’t afford to let him go, it would take a couple of weeks to do a deal with Arsenal leaving us with days left in the window.

Nearly 3 weeks to go before the window closes and there hasn't been a great deal of PL transfer activity.

As examples, Burnley have signed 2, Brighton 2, Everton 2, Southampton 3 but this includes Ings who was on loan until the end of the season, W.Ham 3.All more than us of course but time to go.

Exactly, its too late now to sell him, prepare for him going next year and have replacements lined up, that maybe too organised for Palace though.
