Those complaining about Roy did so because he sometimes played what was perceived to be an overly defensive game. Did anyone watch Newcastle last season? Only the bottom 4 scored less goals. Without significant investment he would likely do the same at Palace but receive a higher wage for it. Not that this is a remote possibility anyway.

The biggest difference between Benitez and Parish is that the former wants to push on and get the club into Europe whilst all Parish wants is survival.

Your claim is flawed, all clubs have sold there best players at some point.

Liverpool Suarez and Courtinio
Barcelona Neymar.
Arsenal Sanchez
Tottenham Bale.
Etc

They all had great revenue streams, if the player wants to go and someone is going to pay a stupid amount of money, he gets sold.
