The arguments around the quartet of Kouyate, McAthur, Schlupp and Meyer in midfield undermine any view that we have an incisive attacking side. PVA has fallen off a cliff, Townsend’s a trier but his home form’s been shocking and reflected the team’s. Then there’s having to play a fair chunk of the season without a recognised forward. Benteke’s a write off and the team lacks height and is getting bullied in the air. Batshuayi is not our player. Not looking a top half squad to me and without Wilf relegation fodder. Firstly, no we're not. Secondly, so what? The sky is the limit. The problems start when fear of failure prohibits ambition. "We're only a small club" is a self fulfilling prophecy. The problems start when the players, and the fans think they are better than they actually are. When we were 'little palace' at least the players usually gave 100% most games. I'm sick of hearing how wd should be doing better than we are. Take out zaha and wd have a very weak side. PVA had been poor for ages. Tomkins isn't thd same player without sakho. Townsend flatters to deceive. Macarthur is a headless chicken as is sclupp. Luka is good defensively but shoukd do better going forward. The only player who has any sort of creativity is meyer and even though he puts the odd good pass through, doesn't seem to be able to shoot. We're where we are for a reason and unless we find some creativity from somewhere and start putting more effort in, we'LL stay where we are.

arent they funded by a billionaire? Originally posted by Tickled pink
Yes they are a brilliant example of how to run a proper football club, if all the teams in this league were organised in the same way there wouldn't be a top six to ruin everything.

So true. The narrow minds of some fans do my head in. Do you not think that spending £50m+ on Benteke and Sakho, paying them and Wilf £100k+ a week not an example of thinking big ?

We are currently the 14th best team in England, almost certainly Britain. That feels roughly right given our striker difficulties, and is an amazing success for the club within the context of its history. Forget anything else and be careful what you wish for. If this is a base camp on an upward climb, we should all be thrilled. Our home form is bitterly disappointing, but we shouldn't lose all perspective because of it.
If you want to live in a world full of kindness, respect and love, try to show these qualities. |

It is the manager's fault as it has lasted all season. Roy has been unable to get us to open up consistently, and pick the lock of teams sitting back. We are too negative in games we should be confident of winning at home. Being unable to break sides down that sit back, isn’t a problem exclusive to Palace. We are creating chances as the stats show, but if strikers fail, the blame cannot be laid purely on the manager.
