one day hopefully we won't need to have threads like this, and we won't have over simplified labels, liker gay, straight black, white, working class or middle class which can be a barrier to treating individuals as individuals - forget all the whether it's bad taste and all humour is off limits, it's not the point, there shouldn't be an issue here. You're right that it's dying out as a relevant factor in how people are perceived. It just doesn't tell you anything about a person and so it is coming to be viewed in a more rational light. The pulpit puritan, the moralising politician. The comedic frequency with which those in the public eye rallying hardest against gays have been found in a bathroom stall with one, or engaged in under age sex or cheating on their partner is something to behold. It's a good distraction to moralise over others sex lives while simultaneously upholding no moral standard. In wider society though, most don't really care who's LGBLTBIGMACANDFRIES and there are surely much more hostile countries to be a homo in than blighty. Edited by dollardays (03 Mar 2019 7.54pm)

I don't see why not. People discriminate on all kinds of grounds. We see those closed off religious communities where there can be a very real aversion towards others on account that their lives become so detached from wider society. Most gays have straight parents and family members though so are surely unlikely to develop a generalised dislike to the kind of people that are integral to their lives. I'm sure some still manage to as human stupidity knows no bounds, but that's their problem.
