Just a comment about the smalamount of added time Craig Pawson allowed, 4 minutes. There were 5 substitutions, quite a lengthy injury to Giraud and a lot of time wasting by their keeper, who should have been yellow carded as was Guiata at The Etihad last week. Probably made no difference as we didn't have a clue today but you never know.

Which part of "this is something that will be addressed in January with hopefully the addition of one or two players" is confusinig you?

No confusion,I’ve just learnt unlike yourself obviously to take everything that’s said about transfers approaching and during a transfer window with a pinch of salt and see what we end up with by the end of it all, especially since poor old Roy’s been at the helm.

Should be Roy driving the recruitment and by this I mean giving his targets to SP and DF, not DF telling Roy who is available. I just wonder how much input he has into transfers given SP’s programmer notes. Somehow don’t think much at all. Not a manager more Head Coach.

For RH to do this, he'd have to be our Scouting department!

RH needs to identify the type of player he wants. DF, with the help of the Scouts, should source and find a player that fits his requirements.
Managers cannot be expected to keep an eye on every team in every league. that's not their job. and certainly not at 71.

The trick is having that understanding between manager and DoF regarding the player(s) they are after.

"It was a Team effort, I guess it took all players working together to lose this one"

Long gone are the days when a manager used to traverse miles in all climes to watch a player before driving several miles back home in the dark after an evening match.

Scouting has been transformed in this modern era with technology at the forefront providing data led analysis and information.Clubs deal in global markets with some clubs concentrating on major leagues with software analytics company StatDNA being used to drive moneyball principles.Wyscout,Scout7 etc etc are used to identify a plethora of players, indeed Southampton have identified 20 players for each position before whittling this down to 3 or 4.

The manager will liaise with his recruitment team who will scour the software to match his requirements and carry out further analysis if necessary to identify possible targets. He might of course have certain targets in mind. Then of course the ardous task is to get these 'Over the line' and I am led to believe this whole process can be extremely protracted, frustrating and in the end disappointing if the target is not acquired.Financial constraints of course play their part and unrealistic targets are not pursued.

And with all this technology we end up with Sorloth, Jach and Rakip

4-4-2 ??, did you watch the Chelsea game, only Zaha up front on his own untill the last 20 mins
