That powder puff shot on Saturday was a clear indication that he presently doesn't have the required confidence or nous in front of goal to turn the tide for us.

Ah, the classic Schrodinger's transfer policy problem.

Simultaneously blame someone for 'bargain basement deals' and 'paying over the odds' at the same time.

Employee of the month is a good example of how someone can be both a winner and a loser at the same time.

First 60 minutes I thought Ayew did well on Saturday.

He fluffed his chance, but his workrate was good and his hold up play was fine considering the service was poor. He won a number of headers that Andros seemed incapable of reading.

We kept putting the ball into channels where it made it easy for Morgan and Maguire to outpace or outmuscle him, which to me was more an issue with the service.

Biggest complaint is that he always runs out of energy after an hour.

He is useless. The fact that Hodgson starts him over Sorloth tells you how bad we are. Can't believe I'm waiting for the return of Benteke!

I thought I'd stumbled upon another Benteke thread for a second there.

What a great response, all he ever does is post complaints about Parish

I don't see the two as incongruous. Surely you can pay over the odds at the basement just as you can at the (?) top floor penthouse, can't you?

[To be clear - I'm not supporting anti-Parish comments with this post (I've chosen never to get involved in that debate) - I'm just being a pedant!]

I have given this some thought (well it’s a quiet day!). To me “bargain basement” means on the cheap. In that case Username has a perfectly valid point

I disagree. Have you never purchased something that you thought appears to be cheap/Bargain but turns out to be not what it promised to be and is in fact a pile of siht, The only person responsible for that would be me if I made the initial investment, Hence step forward the man who negotiates transfers

A second point raised earlier was that I only ever seem to criticise SP, That's not strictly true, But to be honest IMO he is the man to blame for the majority of our problems, We do seem very amateur at what we do at the top what with Negotiations with transfers and setting wage limits. I think a lot of the players that were and are not good enough, I am not willing to name them but I am sure many will know exactly the type of players I mean are not willing to leave as they are on a too comfortable weekly wage. And again only one person and his team responsible

After the first 60 seconds I thought he was utterly in the wrong place doing the wrong job.

How strange is it that every poor player we sign is because Parish signed him, but every good player we sign is because the manager signed him
