Almost half the world — over three billion people — live on less than $2.50 a day.

So much for capitalism...........

You do realise that $2.50 buys quite a lot in some places?
I'm not going to defend the gap in wealth between rich and poor but the point that you deliberately overlook is that the poorest are less poor than ever before despite the sharp upward curve in population.

We must also accept that your beloved system would see even more poor people if they were even alive.

I think you're find that the reasons for that have little to do with the capitalistic system and more to do with IQ and corruption.

It isn't ok though.....No individual is at fault for where they are born....the circumstances in which they are born and the genetics they were born with.

Then again....while it isn't ok it isn't my fault or concern either.....other than a desire for reasonable humanitarian progress.

Unfortunately, human progress will mean the end of planet Earth as we know it. We cannot have 9 billion wealthy consumers. 20 billion poor Asians and African will Eat up the planet's resources, including Europe's, like a raging fire within 200 years unless we act to control population size and spread. Being poor will be the least of our problems.
