He tried to influence an appointed referee which has been against the rules for nearly 10 years now.

"Clubs are being advised that any media comments by managers, players or any other club officials relating to appointed match officials prior to a fixture will no longer be allowed," read an FA statement. "Such pre-match comments will be deemed improper and dealt with accordingly.

"Post-match comments in relation to match officials and incidents are still permitted provided they are not personal in their nature, imply bias or attack the integrity of the officials in charge of the match, or in any other respect bring the game into disrepute."

Which effectively bars anyone involved in the game from criticising referees, no matter how much it may be justified.

Wife beating may be socially acceptable in Sheffield, but it is a different matter in Cheltenham

The way I see it is that one can still criticise referees after the game for what one believes are wrong decisions as a result of errors of judgement but one cannot call into question their honesty and integrity by indicating bias, cheating etc nor make any personal comments regarding their fitness etc etc.

Cant be bothered to quote chapter & verse . . .

BUT, a match official has the 'power' to dish out a caution/dismissal up to 30(THIRTY) days after said match.

This operation, will make the 'Charge Of The Light Brigade' seem like a simple military exercise.

I think it means not one cannot, but rather one may not.

The door must be on the latch cos some of the team have stopped playing for him. Hope he's still there on 24 November but can't see it going on that long.

Our erstwhile player Dean Austin removed of his duties at Northampton with the club 21st in Division Two.

They were relegated last season and I believe they signed 4 players in pre-season, 3 on 'Frees' and 1 on a season-long loan.
