Do we now have 1 too many in 1 position when we’d ideally need a forward player instead and for similar money? That’s the kind of juggling that’s possibly going on.

We would be mad to lose Williams now , he’s looked much fitter and Stronger and played well this pre season , he’s had injuries granted but some players really develop later and he looks like he may one of them.

I can understand why Riederweld doesn't want to go, he has played at top level in Holland and was then brought to Palace by his ex manager who then left so it hasn't worked. He has talent so may feel he can do better. I wonder if a swap deal on both may work. Ayew comes to us with Riederweld going other way. Clubs independantly have right to buy during loan. This may be best for both clubs and players. Ayew gets back in EPL, Riederweld plays competitive English football. If Ayew fits we buy, if Riederweld shows he is good enough to play in EPL he comes back or gets promoted with Swansea. Only downside for us is it takes up a loan spot. I think we are still restricted to 2

I suspect the truth is that Palace don't rate Ayew highly enough to pay for him. It is a squad game not 11 players, Reidewald has been patient and just what you most want, someone who you can put on and is comfortable at the top level. If Palace really want Ayew then they can still loan or buy from Swansea can't they? I suspect they don't want the risk and don't rate him that highly.

IMO I think you’re kind of on the right track in they don’t want to (can’t because of rules) pay the value of Riedewald plus £2 mil for a forward player, especially when they have just signed 2 midfielders on high wages in the Cabaye bracket and Puncheon is returning as well. They’re also trying to stop bulges and an unbalanced squad, especially if moving forward there’s going to be more strategy and longer term thinking. I know the arguments in keeping Riedewald but we’re not in the position where keeping a £7 mil player (or more if the Riedewald plus £2 mil cash says he’s worth more than £7 mil) go out on loan. Nice if we could, but that’s probably a big % of our budget at the moment and we do need more attacking options. None of these signings look like they were us accepting any dross left at the bottom of the barrel and them being this week and 2 of them very low key is a further clue. It comes under the headlines of balancing the books. Reidewald obviously hasn’t come enough to impress Roy, no point in keeping him any longer. People keeps moaning about players like Mutch and Lee, he comes under that category, so move him on.

Did you actually watch the Reading game? His best performance in a Palace shirt in thec1st half. Replaced by a very rusty Luca. He's good cover for him and still only 21.
Let's keep the ball this season! |

The team whose fans think they’ll struggle to stay in... the championship. He’s some way down the pecking order and getting any money in/using as a swap for players not used is the situation we’re in. Roy didn’t and doesn’t intend on using him much or Riedewald moving up the pecking order. A bit of a harsh reality. Would be nice to loan him out but we’re not that financially fortunate to do it. If he wants to stay that surely shows some passion for CPFC as well as he wants to play as higer standard as possible of course.

Against Reading, Reidewald twice made dumb challenges just outside the box that gave Reading free kicks in great positions. Bright, who was commenting, mentioned that those kind of tackles would be costly in the Prem and just shouldn't happen. Other than that he was solid, but I'm sure Roy took note. They were the kind of tackle that Punch kept doing that got him pushed to the bench. I'm not a huge Ayew fan, but he was still in the top 40 in goals scored and would be great cover. Better Ayew than 10 minutes of Reidewald for a few games a season. Reidewald's not getting a look ahead of Luka, Macca, Kouyaté, Schlupp. And Punch and Williams are still around. Also there's still a chance one of the other rumoured mids get signed, which would definitely push Reidewald off the bench and into the U23.

Deal off by the sounds of it! Hooray! It's the wrong Ayew brother and Jairo has too much potential to let Wales have him...
