Well a good performance against a poor Championship team

Concerned that our defence will not have got a good workout in the pre-season games. Toulouse only stayed in Ligue 1 via the relegation playoffs

This was almost too good. To be fair Reading were dreadful. How are they promotion challengers by that display? Paul Clement has a mountain to climb by the looks of that wretchedness. Palace looked scary good going forward and were good enough covering the counters. Wayne made that one fine save to preserve the clean sheet at the death plus his distribution was excellent. He actually looked calm and composed today. Zaha was an even better Zaha and his link play with PVA, Schlupp and Macca was an absolute joy. Andros' cross on the Tomkins goal was a thing of beauty. Sorloth still is a work in progress but he took his goal exceptionally well. Wickham looked particularly good in his cameo, shame he couldn't put his shot on frame put he played really clever balls that could have converted into goals. If we can keep the strike force healthy I expect a lot of goals this season since Zaha is definitely in the mood for it and he is definitely staying. He is enjoying his football, has a real rapport with the squad and they all look for him in dangerous positions. Wan-Bissaka must be the starter at right back with Joel backing him up. For once we look healthy and deep. Luka hasn't missed a beat either. It scares me but my optimism for the coming season grows by leaps and bounds every week.

Agreed, reading broke on us a few times and a better team would've punished us as it seemed like we were too committed. Might be an idea to let Toulouse come onto us a bit if they are dross.

We really don’t need to spend our limited funds on another forward...

Those five should see us good.

Wilf obviously.
Wickham is a massive if. He's been injured a lot so we have no idea if he's gonna stay fit.
Benteke was awful last season! Hopefully he'll have more confidence this season.
Kaikai won't make it for us. Hasn't impressed on loan at Charlton etc.
Sorloth scored today but hasn't looked anywhere near Prem quality yet. Very poor against Stevenage and Oxford!

I'd say we need 1 more striker in. Someone with a bit of pace and not a target man.

They are not. Speaking to their fans after the game they are 3rd favourites for relegation!

Now you’ve gone and done it , anyway haven’t palace got a history of doing well in preseason friendlies then doing quite poorly in the league ?

I can remember losing every pre-season game resulting in the manager being sacked

A little unfair on Sorloth at this stage ? He has two pre-season goals and if he manages that in the full season he will be almost prolific by our standard.

Palace were in complete control and a joy to watch. Wilf’s goals were extremely well taken. I was however disappointed with Reading: they looked pretty toothless. Most of their fans seem to be fearing the worst for the coming season, but I did have to smile at a comment one of them made, “To think they once replaced Zaha with Kebe”.
