Actually it wasn’t my post; it was DeanMiles’s post.

Palace since 19 August 1972. Palace 1 (Tony Taylor) Liverpool 1 (Emlyn Hughes)

Both played, Kirby was the only player to get a full 90 minutes. Can only assume we’re given him a proper look.

Anyone see the game and have feedback ?

That's encouraging. Sounds like he may be more likely to succeed than Lokilo - who looked promising in last year's pre-season but is a couple of years older

Lokilo also started. So hopefully we’ve not seen the last of him either.

Does anyone who actually saw the game have any comments on player performances?

I thought the first team players looked decent. The reserves, who played first half, looked like they were nervous on the ball and had not played together very often: which, to be fair, they probably had not done.

Kirby looked ok, but there was some shocking passing and a lack of movement from the reserve and youth players. We looked very static in the first half. When the first teamers came on from around 60 minutes on, the team looked much more fluid.

Also, I hope Roy gets Benteke to work harder, as it looks like the team are actively trying to play to his strengths. If they can do that, and he puts more of a shift in, I think he would do better than last year, which is not saying much.

Sorloth looked useful.

If you come to a fork in the road, take it.

Just to put a bit of context to this game, Helsingör are about 2 weeks ahead of Palace in their pre-season and have played at least 2 games.

Palace have been in training for about 10 days, this was our first game and if anyone thinks in that situation players should be over exerting themselves and risking injury are crazy.

Any sportsman/woman needs to build back up muscle stamina, flexibility, durability and so on.

It wasn't a PL match or cup final, it was the first warm up game against a fitter but not better team, trying new players in new roles with new tactics.

People saying we'd get a rugby score result a week or two ago are deranged, deluded and unrealistic.

That said, we need to sign some players!

Distribution very good I thought, kicks the ball a long way which will be an asset with Wilf up top. Didn't come for many crosses but maybe lack of English didn't help or having Jach in front of him (who I thought was poor) VG only played 1st half. Hope this helps.

I didn't see any of it, but it's reassuring after last year's pre-season to see players in the positions they are best suited to. One or two signings and we'll have a squad that should be secure in the Premiership.
