I felt we tried to many long balls when we looked better ball at feet.
Lingard scores goal of the season in fa cup w*nk*r,couldnt hit a cows arse with a banjo last night, yes he done well with the one what hit the post.

Sterling seen him do that too many times in front of goal, he didnt know whether to kick it in with his left or his right so he tried both.

Tunsia penalty was a penalty, we would have been crying out if it wasnt given to england.
whats the point of VAR if its not going tobe used, Kane twice one was a great judo throw.

all in all its a win and didnt look any worse than the other so called big country's,Southgate should be happy because he has game changing players to turn to for a change

I agreed with Shearer that the Tunisia forward was never getting to the ball, he made a meal of the challenge because he knew that

Was the only the 3rd time ever we won our first game at a world cup

Sorry PP, but you’ve repeated the BBC’s error with that comment. Just in my time watching World Cups, England have won the following opening group games:

1970 v Romania
1982 v France
1990 v Egypt
1998 v Tunisia
2006 v Panama
2018 v Tunisia

So that’s 6 out of the last 11 opening group games ie the majority. (Didn’t qualify in 1974, 1978 and 1994, of course).

I assume the poster was slagging off GS for letting WZ slip through the England net, for which a win against Tunisia isn’t sufficient vindication. But I may be wrong!

I thought the first half was the best football we've played for many years and probably the best football any team bar Spain have played in the tournament so far.

Second half was pretty woeful and the major criticism is that once again, we don't have a plan B. Tunisia clearly regrouped during half time and came up with a new game plan to counter ours, but we didn't change anything in terms of the formation.

Deli Alli was anonymous and RLC should've been on 20 minutes earlier.

Maguire was pretty shocking defensively but contributed so much to the attack and at set pieces. Hopefully just nerves and he'll be better for it in the coming games.

Henderson went from the superb to the usual s***e, he'd spend 10 minutes dictating play and passing like Pirlo and then revert to type and spend the next 20 minutes passing backwards without even attempting to turn and face the other way.

Overall a decent start and pretty much secures us 2nd place in the group at least you would think.

The Times is reporting that FIFA is investigating the VAR in the England match for failing to intervene on the to penalty non-calls. I'd provide a link but I'm not a Times subscriber.

thats called very well played by the forward,
even back in the days i played. because of my pace i pushed the ball through 2 defenders knowing i would get a penalty if they touched me,even if i cant get the ball we are talking mid 70s early 80s so no change.
And Shearers talking out of his arse he would do the same

So he's conned the ref who bought it

That doesn't make it a penalty although some argue it's kind of part of the modern game

We drew 1-1 with Ireland, and drew the 2nd match with the Dutch.

Thanks Stuk. I’m covered with suitable embarrassment. My memory is clearly not what it was. I was still closer to the right answer than the BBC though!

You can argue that to the letter it is a foul and therefore a penalty but to say 'all day long' suggests it's obvious which it isn't
