This is surely the ultimate proof that football has gone mad. I predict that Silva will be either in, or looking for, his next job after Everton, 12 months from now.

Palace since 19 August 1972. Palace 1 (Tony Taylor) Liverpool 1 (Emlyn Hughes)

Much less that that; they will kick him out as soon as they realise how f***ing s***e he is.

We seemed to be the only set of fans who would have been happy for him to continue. I thought our football was pretty decent under him and he got the best out of Benteke too. He also signed Luka and PVA so we have a lot to thank him for

He joined us when we were one place above the 'Drop Zone' and steered us up to 14th so he did the job asked of him.Apart from Milivojevic and PVA he also brought in Sakho on Loan.Indeed we have a lot to thank him for.

He won’t be short of options in the squad or transfer budget if he does go to Everton, like he did at Hull and Watford.

Everton wanted him for 7 months to dig them out of a hole. Fair play he got a longer contract and I guess he will get another payout, more fool Everton's board. They may now get Silva but Sam won't help them out if there in trouble again Christmas. Arsenal may be his next club? Never say never!

I think only the Watford debacle would undermine his credentials - admittedly quite severely - everything else is pretty good. From what I recall, Hull's relegation wasn't his fault. I wonder if Sam was always filling in before they made a move on him again. Maybe there was a timescale before Silva could be employed again a la Pulis post Palace.

I don't think Sam should have lost his job, and I am pretty sure his 8th place finish will be better than whatever Silva achieves. But then again, he's done incredibly well out of being fired. Incredibly well. Sam's been around the block and his demand for the 2 years has 100% justified itself.

Didn’t Everton sack Koeman before Watford sacked Silva?

When you look a Sam's pressers and comments during his tenure, you could argue he was angling for this all along. Will be a pundit at the World Cup and then have four or five months off.

the dignified don't even enter in the game

Yes.
Everton sacked Koeman in October 2017 with the club in 18th place.
Watford sacked Silva in Jan 2018 with the club in 10th place - they ended the season 14th !

It has been said that Allardyce never saved Everton from the drop, the sacking of Koeman did that.Seems no credit at all for Allardyce "Oop north" !!!!

Yes he won the league with Olympiakos but this is hardly a great feat !
Went down with Hull, sacked by Watford after only winning 1 of their last 11 games under him.

He doesn’t react well to bad runs and ruts. But he’s only been at clubs lacking in back ups. Hull were done when they had the 3 injuries vs us after losing at home to Sunderland and Watford had a lot of injuries as well. He could be going to a club with more resources and with some better defending at corners some people could end up with egg on their faces. He’s certainly not shyte but the jury is out on how good he is because the 2 jobs he’s had have been unique. Hull, going down. Watford, trigger happy. He’s always wanted this size club or bigger so we’ll see.

And there’s a difference between finishing 6-8th anyway and threatening to breakthrough that barrier and possibly staying there. They’ve probably looked at Spurs at some point and recognised how they’ve got the football in order before stadium.

Yes the jury is out on him.

I was just thinking hypothetically - If Hodgson had announced his retirement and Silva was being linked with us what do you think would be the reaction of our supporters ? Would they look at his record at Hull and Watford and cast aspersions or would they see him in a positive vein ? This is not a rhetorical question and I have no view either way.
