Great stuff. Yep, I'm sure Spurs fans are thrilled by Paulinho's exploits for another club and enjoying updates on Chadli from the WBA treatment room. I notice you did not include £26m Roberto Soldado; £8.6m Etienne Capoue or £8.5m Vlad Chiriches. How did those buys work out? The current Spurs team was not built on Bale money, this is the next generation of signings. The first was a complete flop, save Eriksen, but I don't think it was worth effectively swapping Bale for him do you? Or are you now going to bang on about £30m Erik Lamela?

I'm pleased for Murray, but he is 34, has scored only 7 goals from open play in 36 appearances in the PL this season, is slow and has no assists. He's not been tearing up trees, just performing better than expected. It would have been good to have him around, but Bentenke would have started ahead of him last season, and rightly so. This season the Belgian has been poor, but an ageing Murray was never going to be happy playing second fiddle. And he wasn't, and he left, the end. When he left I thought he was looking slow and off the pace and I have never changed my view on that. We got the best season out of Glenn, 31 goals in a season which resulted in promotion. Who knows what he may have done without his injury but it was the correct decision to sell him at the time.
It's 106 miles to Chicago, we got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark... and we're wearing sunglasses. |

Last season it was the right decision. This season it isn’t looking like such a good move. These decisions have so many moving parts that it’s impossible to be able to say one way or another how things are going to turn out. The club has to make a judgement call at the time based on whatever stats, facts and evidence of a players ability they have at the time and hope that it works out. So many cases where the big clubs get things wrong. This is because they are in a position to make these calls more than the smaller/non PL clubs. Or that the decisions are more high profile. Guess we’re fortunate to now be able to have this headache as a club. And it being a relatively new thing for us as a club, is probably why it is magnified by us as fans. But it’s something we’ll have to get used to the more better quality players we let go during our time in the PL.

I'd be both gutted but happy for him if Zaha got a top move. However, seeing him play in front of Spurs fans, who would piss and moan about him if moves broke down, or he didn't perform at absolute peak level every week, would be hard to take. An utterly charmless club. He's too good for them (the fans at least).

Ian Wright said something similar (about him playing etc) and said thats EXACTLY the reason he shouldnt move; we accapt that from him other clubs/fans prob wouldnt esp with him coming with a huge fee as well....
