According to the articles below Benteke is off to China in the summer. Great news he has totally lost his way with us.
I blame the money.

I think maybe people are not used to seeing a player, at least an attacking player, use physical force rather than guile (Wilf), speed (Bolasie) or technique (Benteke) to hurt the opposition. I suppose Wickham used physicality to a degree, but we don't have anyone else who can really go up against big agricultural types like the sort Huddersfield use and beat them at their own game. I think they'll have trouble with a striker they can't knock over.

Sorloth was poor. If benteke had his confidence we’d be fine. If sorloth had benteke’s nouse likewise. We’ve got two half standard players at the mo, just hoping that something drops for one of them. Seems sorloth doesn’t chase the ball down much in central areas either, guess he’s still learning and getting up to speed. So in answer, Wickham if fit!

I thought both looked poor in the first half! Benteke has the experience but sadly just lacks desire and lacks a football brain. Movement, anticipation and positional sense is shocking.

Sørloth is young and is still adapting to playing in a very different league. I do wish he would close the opposition defence down quicker though. He seems to jog around and his effort to close down looks like a token gesture to me.

Really believe that Benteke actually damaged himself when he took the penalty from Luka. It was a foolish act he has been unable to mentally recover from IMO. He has won many flick ons which have not been read by teammates and played to instructions, contrary to many people's opinions, but the sparkle has gone. He's flat and reactive rather than bubbling and proactive. Also after Bournemouth the abuse he would have received must have an effect on your mindset, hence the fingers in ears celebration. No amount of money makes you immune, before someone comes up with that pathetic line.
Sorloth has not done too well holding up the ball or winning headers and if Benteke had hit the post from 4 yards no one would be defending him. Difference is he's only played against the big boys so far and for all we know he might be a small club bully. God, I hope so.
Personally both we're piss poor in the first half and either one could have gone off. Whoever stayed on was gonna improve because Zaha changes games. He affected the mindset of both clubs and Sorloth benefitted from his presence.
Also I believe Roy's gameplan was wrong in the first half. Sorry, but it has to be said.

The problem is it's hard to come up with a decent gameplan for us without using the letters W and Z.

Replace the word hard with impossible and you've got a point.
Thing is we had to be more proactive cos we were two down and who knows if Benteke had stayed on we might have won 2-3. No one has a crystal ball.

Been a long time since I was as excited about a transfer as I was when we signed Benteke, thought he'd be superb for us. Was decent in patches last year but, in my opinion, he has been abject this year.

The blame isn't entirely his, our injury nightmare and lack of transfers reinforcements means that he has rarely had competition and often poor service, however there have also been a lot of matches where his effort and commitment have been lacking.

I say put him on the bench for a couple of games now and give Sorloth a crack with Wilf and Townsend back on the wings. If nothing else, it might give Benteke a kick up the arse.

Quite right. The lad did great creating something from nothing on the right in the lead up to the goal. Can anyone tell me that Benteke could have done that?

Please don't use the Bournemouth penalty debacle as a further excuse, Benteke had been awful up to that miserable point and excluding the Leicester match hasn't improved. This 'lack of confidence' thing is laughable, this guy is pulling £120k a week and giving sweet FA to the cause of which, by his performances he couldn't give a flying toss about! I sincerely hope he goes to China or indeed anywhere in the Summer.

Absolutely, so if we just go on the facts to date it would have been highly unlikely he would have contributed with any goals. Roy obviously felt the same. I find the Teflon positivity for Benteke for the season he has had very odd. It’s almost a battle for some against those who are critical of him.

Why's it an 'either or'? Benteke's looked much better since Sorloth arrived and was at his best for us in the few games Wickham was alongside him. He's not the most brilliant fit with Wilf to date; maybe that will improve and it's probably not a concern for next season.
