add Bamford, Mariappa, Jerome and Alex McCarthy to the list of players who have begun to show their ability after they left us.

There must be a reason - lack of opportunity, the wrong formations, managerial impatience, lack of encouragement?

There is a problem somewhere and I am beginning to show sympathy for Benteke. While we wait for the return of Zaha it is time that Townsend stepped up to the plate and gave him some support

Bamford's a bit of an enigma. He seems a perfect fit at Middlesbrough. He's done well for them, but in between his two spells there, he's been pretty much a waste of space.

Yes,his 13th goal in all competitions this season.
Gayle has scored 5.
Neither considered good enough for us,however.

Disastrous decision. Pardew had ideas above his station. So we spent £32mil on a crap replacement. If we had stuck with Murray and/or Gayle, we could have spent that money on the midfielders we so badly needed.

The right place at the right time

Benteke- 15 league goals in the Premiership last season, 17 in all competitions. In a struggling side with a disastrous first half of the season.
Gayle- 23 goals in the Championship last season, 23 in all competitions. In a side that walked away with the Championship.
Murray- also 23 goals in the Championship last season, in a Brighton side that was runner up.

But on the basis of 1 bad season for Benteke and 1 above average one for Murray and Gayle, suddenly we've made a massive mistake?
We definitely made mistakes with back up strikers, but I think to deride Benteke as the worst thing to ever happen to the club after a poor season is a bit rich.

The past is past. This season the evidence is right before you.

I love Muzza but he has scored some lucky goals this season. Apart from the pens they have come off all parts of his body plus todays one Cech should have easily saved it. Benteke would love luck like that

Yeah really lucky to score 13 goals. I'd rather have a lucky player than an unlucky (s***) one in Benteke.

Should've kept Murray as a squad player anyway and he would have stayed. Parish f***ed up with this one and has been negligent in not replacing him ever since.

It is the ‘Premier League’ the Premiership only exists in Scotland.

Yeah but Benteke wouldnt have been in a position to score Murrays 'lucky' goals would he?? Benteke only cares about his 120k a week, he'll be off whether we go down or not! As to Benteke needing some luck...you tend to make your own luck in football by working hard/getting in the right places/getting in the CBs faces....Benteke does none of those things..he just doesnt care!

Murray has scored 6 goals in his last 6 games but at the end of the day whilst he of course has played his part by his reading of situations and his movement, he is of course reliant on the service he receives.

Murray has never been the quickest but has always been a clever player and is of course good in the air.
