Another predictable thread questioning Parish after a defeat. Since the Premier started up, we have had 4 Chairman. Noades, who knew his way round football, but ultimately stitched the club up, buy selling the team and not the ground. This stifled any possibility of progression, unless he got his cut. Goldberg, well meaning, more cash than football knowledge, he lost all his money to football sharks and led us into administration. Jordan, ego driven, no experience in football and thought he could change the system. Lied over owning the ground, coined the phrase " couldn't get the deal over the line". Couldn't progress the club and ultimately led to near extinction at the High Court and he employed Trevor Francis and Peter Taylor and ruined my Saturday afternoons watching the garbage they got the team playing. Parish, got us to the Premier after 3 seasons and remained there since. Has been honest in his dealings, bought the ground so therefore got us a proper club, not tenants. You can take your choice of who you think has done the better job of being Chairman, they all made mistakes, but some more devastating than others. Edited by Painter (12 Feb 2018 8.45pm) this.

Very well laid out Painter. Unfortunately some only see what they want to see. And too young to realise how bad it was in the past and just how fortunate we are!! Reality check is needed, just remember how big a club we still are compared to most of the Premier league and quite a lot of the Championship. We are able to attract players that in the past would go nowhere near the club, we pay extremely good wages and manage this as a club that can't get 30,000 at home! The club is so much better now, we are looking to develop the ground, are in good financial shape and how anyone can be blamed for the very unfortunate injury list is a joke, I suppose that is Parish' fault too. We are in a world where no one has any patience and expects everything now, and sadly this means whatever Parish does, unless we win something or become an overnight success, they will never be happy. Give the man a break please...

We are a bottom half of the table team and always will be just like many others. If some people think Parish has taken us as far as he can they are delusional. We are always at some point during a season going to go on a bit of a bad run and find ourselves among the strugglers so you might as well get used to it or go and support someone else.

One of his biggest critics, but still would rather him at the club than any overseas consortium al Man City, Cardiff et al. If we got bought out by some dodgy Sheik, or group of shady Chinese businemen and the like i'd just turn my back. The passion would be totally gone. Maybe someone would set up The Palace Glaziers or somesuch, and i'd follow that, but i'd have no time for watching some overseas crook use as a plaything, no matter how much dough he threw at it. Were i a Man City fan, i'd rather have followed Portsmouth fate than their own in recent years. So yeah Parish is a tit, and wildly incompetent / infuriating, but he is Palace, he is South London and for a club to be owned (in part at least) and run by a local boy in the modern game, is surely a rare thing.

In my opinion there are two sides to Steve Parish. The first is the one who saved us from oblivion at the last possible second. Whilst this is great he dragged this process out for his own benefit like he also does when he appears on TV shows and podcasts when things are going well but hides when the knives are out so that he could be seen by us fans as the Messiah we all know. He has taken us to the riches of the premier league for 5 years and made a pretty penny out of it along the way. The other side to him is the penny pinching control freak barrow boy with a small business mentality that has a say over everything at the club. This side of him is costing us dearly as he is gambling with the playing squad and taking a chance with our premier league status. New stadium aside he has made a lot of mistakes over the last 2 years with managers and players alike and not to mention his "jobs for the boys mentality" with Judas Ian Wright and hang along Mark Bright. The previous window was probably the most frustrating of them all when you look at who is available. Again him and Judas Greedman have left us in a somewhat precarious position with regards to the playing squad and this could lead to him potentially being found out for who he really is. However I think Roy may save his backside on last time. Do I want him out? Not particularly as there have been a lot worse before him and the saying "Be careful what you wish for" springs to mind. However something does need to change in his approach or a lot of peoples minds could change with regards to this. Mine included.

Ok it might be great if they had another few hundred million quid behind them but they risked what he had not so long ago and has got us probably further than they or most would have thought possible. Everything they have been doing are in the clubs best interest and it’s been a steep learning curve so some things were always going to go awry. Would love to know the posters who have issues with owners are they newish fans or just have short memories?

If some think the valid and constructive criticism on this site is bad or unpalatable then they should look on the massive Parish thread on the BBS. It goes night and day, always a new post it seems.
