I was disappointed when leaving the ground yesterday, but thinking about it afterwards there were several last ditch blocks, clearances off the line, possible 2nd penalty at the end so we were creating chances.
I looked at our remaining games before the West Ham game and thought we had 7 "winnable" games and that if we won 5 of those that would keep us up and points from any other games were a bonus. West ham and Everton were not in that group of 7, but we have already gained 2 of the points required with still 6 of the games to come. Only 2 defeats in 15 adds to the players confidence. My only worry is injuries depleting the squad too much!

I have taken a look at the next 4 games for some of our rivals in the relegation battle.

We of course have Everton, Tottenham, Man Utd and Chelsea.

Stoke - Brighton, Leicester, Southampton, Man C
Swansea - Burnley,Brighton,W.Ham.Huddersfield
Newcastle -Man Utd,Bournemouth,Liverpool,Southampton
Southampton - WBA,Burnley,Stoke,Newcastle.
Huddersfield - Bournemouth,WBA,Tottenham,Swansea

I would suggest that most (If not all) will pick up more points from the next 4 games than we will !

Tough for us indeed compared to those 4 perhaps except Newcastle, but I much prefer our run-in.

But if we slip into the relegation zone before that run-in then the psychological damage from being in the 'Bottom 3' could be highly significant, added to the fact that we could have further injury woes with not much strength in depth.

Do you realise there are 8 games after that?

And West Brom, Brighton, West Ham and Watford are all definitely still in as much danger as us.

Given there are a number of games between rivals some will pick up points but some will therefore not pick up points as a result.

Then again we might not.

Of course, but there is every chance that we will be in that dreaded 'Bottom 3' after the next 4 games,if not before.

I am deeply concerned about our current position - all very distressing.

Cambridge, I really dig your positivity mate. But you must admit things are looking a lot grimmer after ballsing up the last two easier chances for 3 points?

You could also argue that we are getting rid of our toughest games whilst we have the biggest injuries; we then have games against the mid table sides at times when they will likely be getting ready for the beach; we then play our winnable games at the time when others are playing the top 6.

I must say that the indefatigable pessimism is quite draining. We have only lost to Arsenal in the league in the last 3 months or so. There are reasons to be cheerful if you want to look for them.

Not that I want to mellow your mood, it is fine to fear the worst, but it is draining.

We need to get the points required to stay up ourselves, something we've not done as well as we might have in the last couple of games, and not rely on the failure of others around us. I think Willo has come in for a rather unfair savaging for what are as equally valid points as the relentless optimism that I personally find quite wearing in itself.

Well the lads have recovered well from the psychological damage of Frank and 7 games 7 defeats and zero points.
And was it zero goals.?
We can be the only Fanbase going, that have discussions like this.!!
Rather than being reasonably confident.
