I see a lot of lower league football and am convinced there are plenty of goalies good enough for us, Yet we , and most of the other top level clubs, lack a scouting system that can identify a quality lower league goalie. That I find surprising and maddening. Agree. Edited by DutchEagleJohan (09 Jan 2018 12.17pm)

Some reports in Spain saying that the deal is done for that Spanish bloke. The Grauniad says: ''Crystal Palace are closing in on the signing of Vicente Guaita from Getafe, with the goalkeeper’s expected arrival to begin what could be a busy month of recruitment for Roy Hodgson’s side. The former England manager is on the lookout for several new faces in the January transfer window after a series of injuries over the Christmas period left his squad seriously depleted. Having alternated between Julián Speroni and Wayne Hennessey in goal this season, 30-year-old Guaita has been identified as Palace’s main target and they are increasingly confident of signing him having held talks with Getafe this week to discuss an initial fee in the region of £3.5m, with additions should they avoid relegation this season.'' The big question is, how the hell do you pronounce his surname. Ah, I have it. 'Waiter'. I know hnothing. Edited by Mapletree (11 Jan 2018 5.49pm)

I hope you won’t blindly support him when he’s a Sunderland player mate.

I still think we need as close to a top keeper that we can afford but I think WH played really well today. Come and claimed everything, against a pretty physical route one side, and a couple of very good saves.

We need someone to do it consistently.
