Ok it's time to protect our defenders, give some a few days rest, and check out other Palace players... who need game time in case we do pick up more injuries.

So with that being the case:

Jules

TFM - Phillips - Damo - Souare

WanBissaka - McArthur - Riedewalde - PVA

RLC

Sako

Both Wan and PVA should be able to a job running the wings whilst providing defensive cover as well.

Sako absolutely has earned a start!

RLC if fit could have a free role linking play through the middle.

McArthur has given his all lately but we need an experienced head in there, maybe 60mims then Luka on to see things out.

Confident Riedwalde Can do a job again.

If Ward is fit maybe we play him if not TFM.

Damo needs some game time as he might be called upon soon.

Souare won't let us down.

Phillips has been playing outstanding football and should be given 90mins to protect Kelly and Tomkins.

We are playing our biggest rivals and just to rub their noses in it and bragging rights is what football is all about.

We haven't played them for years before this season, we sing songs about them, most of us detest them, its a one off cup game...full squad and beat the scum.

Cup run would be nice , the league is more important but this one game,we have to win.

When the fixtures came out there were only 2 games I looked out for...Home and away to that mob and now drawn in the cup...fantastic...we have to win this one.

Can't believe some Palace fans would be happy to play a weakend squad against the Weed...beggars belief

I said earlier that I'd like to see some of teh kids be given a chance but forgot about Phillips...good shout.

Playing Phillips would also allow us to play a 3-5-2 system which i think TFM and Wanbissika would both thrive in..I know the U18's are playing 3 at the back, not sure if the U23's are though.

We rung the changes and draw against City, no reason to think the team I selected above wouldn't walk it against Brighton... fresh legs could bring a lot. Don't think it's a weak team...

Forget Zaha playing he'll never be risked.

You must have the memory of a goldfish to suggest that.

We should put out our second string. If we get knocked out, then that's life.
Being out of the cup will give the team more time to recover for the PL matches.
I think, if Roy stays, we can have a go at both cups next season.
I don't really think we need to even sign in this window either. The squad is tight, but we only need 6 wins to stay up, which, considering our form, isn't beyond the realms of possibility.
Only player I would sell is Benteke if an offer of £40m+ comes in, then we could maybe sign a decent striker.

The match is not until Monday. What's the big deal? We need to beat them.

Thank fcuk you can have no influence on our transfer policy whatsoever. We have two regular CBs long-term injured and we have only one fit striker; sell Benteke and we'd need to sign two, which will be impossible in this window. 'Only' isn't in the vocabulary when you're talking about six wins in the PL.

Thank you for your usual insightful and erudite thoughts on the matter.

I did try and support the proposal by suggesting that the kids are playing that system and have all season...but then again we all know you simply watch football from your armchair...when you can pull yourself away from the keyboard that is.

That said, I appreciate it would be a change from the current formation, but when playing a changed 11 what difference would it make?

The worst thing we could be is predictable...and i'm only talking about 3-5-2 as a 'potential' one off in this instance.
