By the way .... I took a look on Cities fans forum ...
Holy s***... What a bunch of whinging Northern Monkeys..
They are running away with the league and still crying about a draw at Selhurst.... Take a reality check boys and girls.....
In the words of Doc Brown ..."Try being Palace"....
You are buying the Prem you mugs .....
And with the greatest of disrespect ... You have become Manchester united in parallel .... Despite trophies you must miss the old days when you were a proper club....

A terrible challenge, I agree. But you're surprised that after we take a point against City, these forums aren't particularly concerned with Man City's players?

I don't know how many of you remember it but the worst foul at Palace was made by player I admired and that was George Best's career ending tackle on Ian Evans. Punch's tackle was late but KdB will still be playing football again soon, Ian Evans never played again.

Not any idea of chivalry but playing by the rules and the spirit f the rules. There can also be pragmatism at work if we want there to be.

The punishments need to fit the crime and then this kind of disgrace would no longer be seen to be 'worth it'. Believe me, managers, the biggest pragmatists of all, would put a stop to it just like that.

I fear I sense in your reply that you think it's ok? Surely not.

I don't disagree with your feelings Glazier, but my opinion is that Puncheon has fallen into a very dark place with his game and his life apparently.
Personally I felt he was playing way off the pace and his appalling tackle just exposed how far off the pace he was. It was so off the pace, he ended up injuring himself. Personally I don't think there was malice in it just really bad football timing, for which he suffered the consequences.
Sadly I reckon that may be the last time we see Punch play for us. Don't let one atrocious tackle cloud the service he has given us over the years, but I do think Punch in the premier is probably over.

Mate .... You are so right... Great player ... Quite sad he lost the plot with the tackle ....
Be sad to see a Croydon boy leave us.......
Roy knows his capabilities ...

This..!!

I don't think Puncheons tackle was deliberately malicious - just ridiculously mis-timed, that's what happens when you are so far off the pace at this level..!!

Personally I think Punch has cut a very frustrated figure ever since Pards dropped him for the FA Cup Final - if I recall correctly he was very vocal about being left out, which he made clear in his celebrations following put us 1 up in the Cup Final - his last goal.

Since then as we have all commented on he has been a shadow of his former self - gone from being a very direct and pacy player to a player that just slows things down, more interested in passing square and backwards, frequently with no or detrimental effect to the play.

Hence Roy has dropped him - why he was ever made Club Captain is beyond me - who made that call was it Sam or FDB..?

Again if I recall correctly didn't he engineer his move to us with suggestions he was homesick? I seem to remember reading that somewhere - could be wrong.

But I'm rambling on I think Puch's issues are around frustration of his own performances or lack of them on the pitch and clearly some issues off it. Whether the two are tangibly linked only Punch himself knows.

Bottom line is at the moment he is way off the pace and nowhere near Premiership standard.

What I would say if this is the case - we shouldn't mercilessly kick a man when he is down - Punch has been very good for us over the years.

It just seems sadly now that time may have come to an end, which is quite sad.

I personally hope he comes out the other side and kicks on again - only time will tell.

It was a poor tackle..but it wasn't as bad as people are making out. Perhaps if players wore shin pads bigger than mobile phones then neither wouldve suffered as much as they appeared to.

The main issue is that football is fast becoming a non contact sport and as such players have lost the art of timing a tackle properly!

Just watched the replay for the first time after reading your post. I was expecting it to be a lot worse to be honest.

It’s a bad tackle but no worse than what you’ll see most weeks on match of the day. It was a professional foul to try and prevent the counter attack. I don’t think there was any malice in it. He injured himself so I guess that’s karma.

So others do this kind of tackle, that's alright then? I hope we don't hear you say the same thing when Wilf is crocked.

Thats okay then. We'll have fun watching every skillfull player who doesng't play for Palace getting injured. I get joy from watching the beautiful game and seeing Wilf do his stuff in that game. If you think it would make me happy to know fans of other clubs would be happy to see Wilf injured you are deluded.
Well done Glazier1, a balanced and caring post that all with an interest in our game will applaud.

Can't remember who it was that did basically the same to Tomkins against Liverpool last year, not a peep from the powers that be.

Or Glazier 1 it would appear!

As you said you have supported Palace for many a year like I have, surely you must remember watching the famous Chelsea-Leeds game in the seventies when that tackle was the norm. Now I am not condoning it,but think slow motion makes these tackles look premeditated when they are not.Jason was beaten for pace and lack of match fitness as to my mind he is no Roy Keane.

Oh my God.

It does make me chuckle how one-eyed supporters can be at times.

What Puncheon visited on Kevin De Bruyne was an act of violence. A disgrace that should have seen him sent off with a straight red and, in my opinion, result in a six match ban - at least.

Not only was it illegal but downright dangerous. What's more, it didn't even stop the intended pass. It did, though, achieve the desired effect of stopping play and once again, cheating won the day.

I even saw, I think, one simpleton on these boards PRAISING the disgraceful Puncheon for 'taking one for the team' ugh!

De Bruyne has been one of the joys of the first half of season 17-18. It is, surely, talent like his that gives us all pleasure and reminds us that, despite the cheats, this is the beautiful game. I don't care if he plays for us or not. he is a genius and the reason we all watch the game, surely. Players like him and Wilf light up the game and we must all want the geniuses to prosper for the good of the game and the cheats to be outlawed.

Someone on here complains that 'all the talk was about the pen and Punch's tackle'. Not on this site, it isn't. There has been a deafening silence about what Puncheon did.

Rest assured, if such an assault had been carried out on one of ours there would have been an outcry on these pages. Yesterday was different, though, wasn't it. Punch is 'one of ours'

I've been a Palace fan for many, many years and suffered the joys of that. Support them as I do, I'll never have time for what i saw Puncheon do.

Shame on you Jason.

Yes, I saw it.

Presumably, the insinuation, Silly, is that I saw it but don't care and it's only attacks on opponents by Palace players that I care about.

I'll spell it out, once again, for those who belong to the Hard Of Understanding Society:

It's bad whoever does it and is no less disgusting just because it's carried out by one of our own.

And yes, Ripley, I most certainly do recall the Leeds - Chelsea match. Deplorable and aren't we all glad this is a thing of the past?

It's good to hear so many opinions on the issue and it's also clear that some supporters just don't care about how football is played, just whether we win or not,

Shame.

But I think i must be a little old fashioned to care about such things, Odd but I still have no time for and never will have any time for Benteke because of the blatant cheating that won him that penalty for Liverpool against us.

I guess it's just me.
