I don't see how moving him on can free up space for anybody. Would be a bit like saying move Speroni on so we can sign another keeper. He won't go for cash and we'd still need a 3rd keeper. Mutch is correct but who wants him? Again, if we're holding out for 2million and wages to be taken off the books before we can sign someone, what does that say about the level of player we're looking to sign? I think we have money to spend so am not concerned but if it was leaked we are waiting on a whopping 2 mill for Mutch plus wages for Delaney before all that money can be reinvested in Roy's entire war-chest I'd be protesting at the gates! Your missing the point, it's not the transfer fee, it's the wages and length of contracts. Mutch, Lee and Delaney will be on combined £120k a week minimum, which a total waste of money as they are never going to in contention for a first team space.

We are one injury away from Delaney playing and I suspect all three will start against Brighton.

We've only recently regained confidence and rediscovered the knack of playing together as a team. Surely, that is priceless? For once, Parish should listen to his manager or risk losing him as well. We were tottering on a precipice a few months ago and we're not on terra firma yet. When has Parish not listened to his manager.?

Agreed Mutch and Lee need to come of the books, however another team need to sign them.Cannot see many teams signing Mutch.

Fortunately Lee is out of contract this summer, but unfortunately Mutch is here for the 18/19 season until his runs out, so another 18 months of getting paid 40k? A week for nada .

I was actually about to say it must be horrible to know you'll never see wages like that again once you're contract has expired though. But then you think about the absurdities of footballer's salary. If I got 40k a week for just one year of my life, I'd have investments, stocks, bonds, rented property etc and be rich for life. It's mad when you see these players, similar to Mutch, at 35 years old working in a chip shop, bemoaning they were never given a chance at Palace and only got 3 years of good wages.

Didn't SP say in December that the transfer money for January was "ring-fenced", fair enough it might only be a tenner but it must exist. Edited by boo909 (04 Jan 2018 5.11pm)
Bangell - If Camus wrote The Myth of Sisyphus today, it would be about Jason Puncheon eternally trying and failing to pass with his right foot. |
