Murphy has a dark soul.
If you want to live in a world full of kindness, respect and love, try to show these qualities. |

I have to say, I would love Danny Murphy to take a position learning the ropes under Roy. He is the only pundit on motd who consistently talks sense. On talksport he often talks about the time he spent playing under Roy and how much he admired his methods. He obviously likes Palace as a club and is always quick to point out how wonderful our fans are. I think he could start of part time so that he could still fulfil his media ambitions, just gradually getting to understand the everyday workings of a football club, then start to ramp up his workload as Roy gets closer to retirement. I have been thinking about this for a while now and am glad that somebody started a thread that is worthy of discussion, well done foxy. Murphy is a nice bloke on radio and TV, but he has no experience of managing anything. Ryan Giggs had coaching experience at Utd and is nice on TV, but no Premier club is going to give him a managers job.

Assuming that Roy is happy to stay and manages to keep us in the PL what happens in a couple of seasons? I feel we should be planning for that now and looking to bring in someone who is 'Palace' through and through to take on the mantle. Maybe we should be looking at someone like Sean Derry or even Jedi to come in and learn under Roy? Views? Could be he is already here, RAY LEWINGTON, he has worked with Roy for years and years, he must know everything Roy knows about coaching, i don't know his exact age, at a guess about 15 years younger than Roy.

Bexley Dave Can you hear the Brighton sing? I can't hear a ******* thing! "The most arrogant, obnoxious bunch of deluded little sun tanned, loafer wearing mummy's boys I've ever had the misfortune of having to listen to" (Burnley forum) |

Very sensible suggestion, bring in someone like Popovic, experienced, as number two and get a younger ex player who's interested in coaching in under them. Fingers crossed would be seamless transitions and enjoyable to watch become a stable club for a change.

More than likely there'll only be rubbish out of work and available. Actually Moyes might be available when the time comes but I can't stand him and I reckon the players would dislike him as they did with Frank. If Roy's finish is planned and done properly then it shouldn't be whichever group have the shortest odds on oddschecker. That's the point of this. Rudi,Are you not vouching for Mr Silva ?

Ray has been a manager elsewhere and was not that sucessful, but having said that the clubs he managed had very low finance. He like is Keith Millen a very good number 2. It would be nice to think there is succession planning after Roy but very few clubs in practice have that any more. SP seems to like people with a CP link so Paddy, Popovic, Speroni etc are all possibles. Assuming Roy decides he want to go on for another couple of years I wonder if Mile Jedinak will come into the running

The apprenticeship route never works. Stick with Roy for three or four years of stability and steady progression. No need to look further than three years ahead football management is too dynamic.

Agreed, thats whats needed, but unfortunately at some point Managers/Teams lose matches and the Manager gets the sack.
