I'm worried if he plays he will be too pumped up and get red carded.

He'll probably blame the rest of the team for not backing him 100% to take the penalty, arrogant tw*t. I hope he gets a stint in the unders until he scores a goal, but he will play simply because the alternative is Sako and he is worse. Not sure how long I am going to remain angry about this one, but I think it will be a long time. Until he scores on Tuesday?

Take a look at Lukaku. How many goals has he scored for United recently? I suppose he's not good enough for the Prem either...?
1st: Benteke scored 13 last year (without 2 penalties) in 3.100 minutes. Because no other striker played that much and took penalties for his team, Benteke's 15 seems a lot. But it's not. A striker should have done much more in over 3000 minutes of gametime (which has now become 4.000 minutes of gametime!!) 2nd: Lukaku is having a great season. 13 goals scored so far in all competitions. Why bring up Lukaku?

Can Benteke redeem himself? No, he can't. It's not about him missing a penalty, it's that he's not good enough for the PL. He's gone 800 minutes without goal or assist. That's unbelievable for a striker. He's only made double figure last year because he played more minutes than any other striker in the PL. He's been average at Aston Villa too, just taking all penalties and being forced into the first 11 to be sold. People thought he will become great, as in truth, he was very, very young, but he never did. No matter if he scores 2 o 3 or 4 goals until January, he's just not good enough, nothing is going to change that. Wow.

Oh he fxxked up and will feel it as painfully if not more so than us or his team mates. He is a striker, strikers by definition justify their existence by scoring goals. He feels this keenly which is precisely why he grabbed the ball and insisted on taking the spot kick. if he believed he'd fail so monumentally badly he wouldn't have been so insistent. It was only when foot struck the ball so sickeningly ineptly didthe shocking truth punch him hard in the stomach. His form as a striker, a getter of goals had vanished with the aloofness of a posh bint having been taken on a date the 'Cats Whiskers' Streatham,(ask your granddad kids.) So what is to be done? Best we say nothing on the terraces cos reminding him of shameful fail will lead to yet more embarrassed ineptitude.

Reading a post on the match report in a National newspaper, someone had actually researched all of Benteke's 'unfortunate' misses in recent times
I make no comment here - just reporting what I read! Having been at the game yesterday and watched it several times on TV, I could have blown the fcking ball harder! Added to that he makes the most feeble attempt to get to the second ball off the keeper. Absolutely shocking and am still fuming.
Curly eagles dad, 45 years of Palace. Never ever a dull moment, Oh Happy Days |

I'm as disappointed as everyone else is that he missed the penalty but there's no point continuing to slag of Benteke. What's done is done.

He would have had his bollocking from the Management and he himself will understand that he has deserved it.. If Benteke wants to remain at Palace he will have to use this incident to prove to the club and the fans that he deserves to be in the team. Management will I am sure also use the occasion to motivate him to prove himself. Roy actually praised his game performance aside from the penalty debacle so I think they will play him.

In this social media fixated world Tekkers has a great opportunity to at least put out a message. Unfortunately his twitter account seems to have a picture of him dancing as poorly as his penalty taking : [Tweet Link]
“ [T]here are known knowns; there are things we know that we know. There are known unknowns; that is to say there are things that, we now know we don't know. But there are also unknown unknowns – there are things we do not know we don't know. ” |

I think you'll be in for a pretty big shock if this is genuinely what you believe will happen. He was involved in both of the goals yesterday, Roy praised his hold up play. He will play again for Palace. Whether or not he starts is another issue, who knows. I for one hope he doesn't simply because I think Wilf and Andros suit our home system down to the ground, and he can be brought on if we find it difficult to break them down, but the hysteria surrounding this is so typically Palace-esque over the top, you'd of thought he punched someone's Mum. I will never understand abuse actually directed towards players, especially in the s***ty situations we so often find ourselves in. We're all angry and by all means hate Benteke, never forgive him if it genuinely makes you feel better about your life. But directing abuse at him on social media, bombarding his old posts with messages about how much we all hate him and how terrible he is is quite frankly f***ing pathetic. I anticipate him getting a poor reception, be it on the bench or pitch on Tuesday. And I'd just ask Palace fans, what good exactly do you think is gonna come from that?

A terrible mistake - YES, but let us forgive him - show the generosity that could bring back self confidence and goals.

If Roy thinks the team to play Watford will be better with him in it from both attacking and defending perspective then he has to play. Best that everyone moves on from Saturday as soon as. Much as he deserves stick slaughtering one of your own (expensive) players is completely counter productive in our position.
