Why are people f***ing up the celebration of a club legend on a landmark appearance because of personal differences over whether he's better than another keeper who incidentally has also served the club for many years?

BG , this is what you get when you make ridiculous arguments. Everyone now is entitled to compare and criticise Speroni based on your rants against WH. If that is the case. And I sincerely hope it isn’t, then that is trolling and should be dealt with as such. All I’ve ever done is protectt the integrity of a club legend. As a Palace fan I should be entitled to do that.
"We love you Palace, we f@cking hate Man U, We love you Palace, we hate the brighton too, We love you Palace we play in red 'n' blue, so f@ck you, and you ... |

Go away you troll. Let a legend be a legend and the rest of us enjoy our club. Just leave it alone and go back to supporting whatever club it is that you really support. I have supported Palace since the mid-60s, I've had a season ticket for 33 years and probably been to more games than you have. As MKCPFC pointed out, you have caused this situation by your (over) two-year campaign of abuse/hatred aimed at one of our players - that was not 'protecting the integrity of one of a club legend' so don't pretend it was - it was trying to destroy one of our players before he'd even played for us and then blaming him for every goal he then conceded. Yes, Speroni is a legend, but that doesn't mean he is beyond criticism.

It wasn't knowledge - it was a prediction based on what Roy said after Saturday and on how JS had played (poor again last night - awful distribution, 1 goal let in from 2 attempts). And why are you so down on Speroni!!! A bullet header from point blank range. No one is blaming him for that goal, except you it seems, and later came out and saved from Richarlison keeping us in the game with his quick reactions. Julian played fine. Kept a clean sheet at WBA (as did WH at Brighton of course). So congrats to both keepers and lets move on.

However, I think when this post was put up, it was probably as a tribute to a loyal player who stuck with us through unnaturally hard times and trully loves the club. I think most people were hoping this would not turn into one of hundreads of 'Speroni should have done better' pages. Thats why you are on the recieving end of grief here, its not what your saying, its choosing here to make your stand thats getting peoples backs up.

This thread has nothing to do with his ability, his right to be in the side, or whether he is better or worse than WH. It is simply a celebration of his time with Palace. Please don't post on here anything other than congratulations for his contribution to our club because there are plenty of other threads where you can do that should you feel the necessity.

Sorry if I've upset people by posting on this thread. I'd commented at the start when I suggested that he probably wouldn't play on Tuesday as Roy had commented that the keeper shouldn't be beaten by Defoe's second, so I presumed that WH would be back. That wasn't so much criticism as a comment that celebrations for his 400th might have to wait. Then last night Rachid had a go at my saying that and BG as usual joined in so I think I had a right to reply. Again, sorry if that's annoyed people. I will restrict my comments in future to a more appropriate thread.

Speroni's tremendous attitude over the last decade has just showed his love for the club, and he's almost certain to be given a role at Selhurst Park when he decides to hang up his gloves.
