This post has been merged from a topic called 'Connor Wickham' by Midlands Eagle Buzzing he scored the other night. It's a strange one with Connor. Slow start to his palace career but I really felt he was heading in the right direction. Clearly, he's a player who can handle big games (semi-final for instance) and isn't short of quality. Always suffered from injury niggles before a catastrophic knee injury. Either way, we need him back soon. Sorloth just isn't going to cut the mustard. Benteke, much maligned, is still our best option but he'd be far better with Wickham putting pressure on him. With regards to his injury, the first thing I'd do if I was Roy would be to invite Alan Shearer to the training ground to talk to Wickham. Shearer suffered the same injury, adapted his game and still had a glittering career. Whilst he's there, maybe Wilf can have a quiet word with shearer to about his punditry skills.

This post has been merged from a topic called 'Connor Wickham' by Midlands Eagle I wouldn't let Alan Shearer anywhere near the training ground or the players. The club should know where to go to get help for specialist things but whatever his experience a man who had to have a lobotomy to get to be a s*** MoTD pundit is unlikely to be more help than hindrance. PLus which of course he detests us.

This post has been merged from a topic called 'Connor Wickham' by Midlands Eagle Clearly somebody within the club believes he can contribute after such a long term series of injuries. Whilst the Arse and like can carry players like Wilshere I'm not sure Palace can carry too many with players probably on a largish salary. Let's hope he can come back and recover his obvious ability this season, as it is beginning to turn to a game of roulette in attack this season. COYP !!

There were enough good moments for Wickham in the Dulwich game to suggest that he still has some pace and skill so I do think while Benteke is out he should at least be on the bench and get some Substitue match time or even a half until he is fully match fit. If he proves his fitness then why not give him a break, he has worked hard at a comeback and deserves a chance.

Why would we , 5 goals in 8 games, no goals at home this season , want England’s most recent/ best striker give our forward that had the same injury as him some advice. Sounds like a ridiculous idea.

Just because someone was a great player does not imply that he would be a great coach, either head coach or specialist. Frank de Boer was a great player. WHat does Frank already have in common with Shearer? They are both arseholes. Has Shearer's generalist or specialist coaching skill been in demand since he stopped playing? No. Leave him where he is, at least then we can use the Off button.

You don't seem to get the point, just because Shearer can do it, it doesn't mean he could coach someone else to do it, thats the reason why so many great players failed to make it as managers or coaches, like wise, most great coaches were not great players.

If he can get over these little niggles and get a run of games he could be a god send.

A fit Connor Wickham would be a massive and timely boost. A striker who knows where the goal is. I wonder if there's an outside chance he makes the bench against toffee's?
