Not how I read it. I think they're having a laugh if they think they could even win a seat in parliament, let alone create a revolution. They're a tiny, and insignificant party, even on the left - Even the SWP and Socialist Party outnumber the Communist Party. They were insignificant even back in the days of the miners strike (with Militant and the SWP being the major left wing militant movements in the UK). These days these groups are more middle aged men with old beliefs (like me) than likely revolutionaries and the next Baader Meinhoff. And that's why the far left aren't taken seriously as a threat, because they aren't. They're a largely spent force, who aren't a threat. They only thing they're a threat to is their bankruptcy insurance provider. You said the new communists were pro-democracy. Clearly from their own statements on their website they are not - they are openly revolutionary. As for 'not how I read it', you are either being disingenuous or you need to go on a how to read English course.

Also I'd imagine that what communists exist are likely to be within professional class jobs. Especially education. Outside of planning attacks I see little justification for them staying in their jobs if the far right are to be removed from theirs. I should imagine the numbers in either far right or far left organisations is pretty small. What I will say though is having looked into 'National Action' after this affair, they do appear to be pretty extreme.....Hitler levels of extremism. Edited by Stirlingsays (12 Sep 2017 6.37pm)

Also, the distinction between say Corbyn and say communists in general is pretty loose. What Marxist ideas has Corbyn ever refuted? Maybe the method of coming to power...and that's about all I can think of.....Hey, I like a couple of Marxist ideas myself....but this isn't the point I'm making here. The official communist party may be small but the supporters of its ideologies just moved into more successful parties.....that's what happens....and Jamie knows this. The marketplace of ideas must be allowed to provide room for ideas we don't like. As long as they aren't violent and don't involve force against those who don't support them. Nope. Whenever the subject is bought up you say 'but look at them ' Sure I do. I use the whataboutery argument because it's there.....though I agree that the 'whataboutery' argument never addresses the issue itself. To that mind....I have no problems discussing the issues around the far right. It's more a problem that you don't actually say anything useful about it....if I don't agree with you that apparently means I'm a Nazi sympathizer... You just seem to be one of those who believe in punching neo Nazis.......but looking at that dental work I'd quit while you're ahead. Edited by Stirlingsays (12 Sep 2017 7.10pm)

I don't have a problem with the far right such as the BNP etc other than disliking their racist and homophobic policies, and their views towards legal British citizens that are based in an irrational logic. However they also are pro democratic. I don't like ukip either but again they are democratic and I find that acceptable. Groups like the EDL national action etc aren't, they represent a far right 'street' movement that aren't engaged in political discourse but acting out those prejudices
