At the time I wanted Jokanovic for Manager from Fulham. He's done brilliantly this season with them & there's a good chance we'll see him & Fulham in the EPL next season. Could we drag him away somehow if Roy decides to retire? One to think about?

I’ll be in the minority but if de Boer goes, I think Hodgson would be alright. His age is a worry and we would be a bit of a laughing stock for a while but all that would die down once we get a few results. I do think he would steady the ship. If we sack FdB early in the season, it will be a disaster and we’ll be in a very weak position. I really doubt we would get someone better that Roy. . Attachment: Correct.png (296.12Kb)

An interesting thread looking back. A bit of a testament to how well Roy has done.

I'll freely admit after Big Sam left I qs hoping we would get in an up and coming prospect, young with fresh ideas, forward thinking who would see Palace as a desirable chance to make a name for themselves. I felt Pelligrino and Marco Silva were real contenders and Toy felt underwhelming when his name came up in the discussion. I will put my hands up and admit I couldn't have been more wrong. I do feel a bit cheated by FdB in that he promised a gradual evolution of our playing style but this is not what he delivered. I hope Roy stays for a few years. A radical thought would be to get a young manager, maybe from the lower leagues and offer him assistant manager role to learn from Roy, mold him into our way of doong things. Even more tadical would be to tben 'loan' him out to a lower league club as there manger. Wonder what the rules are on this sort of practice? And what would you do with Ray Lewington?

Roy...... I'd hate for Dougie to be given the job as I would hate Coleman being offered it as he's got no job

Not only has Roy steadied the ship but with a restrengthened squad back from injury he is now delivering something special. All the players are starting to fire on all cylinders as their strength returns.

I think most people's (including my own) concern was that Roy was too old and the way he responded to going out to Iceland suggested perhaps it might be all too much for him. I don't think that many questioned his actual ability to manage, did they? I'm so pleased he proved the doubters wrong and has shown there's still life in the old boy. If we can get another season out him to get some stability then that would be great. To think, I thought we might kill him, but it turns out we may have added a few years to his life

When Roy's name was mentioned at the end of last season after the departure of big Samuel I freely admit that I was not keen on the idea. Most managers, even the very good ones, have a shelf life and I feared that Roy was past his sell by date. However, after the FdB debacle I welcomed RH as a steadying hand. What he has done is a marvel considering what he has had to overcome in the way of adversity. He has had a bit more time than our previous saviours Pulis, Pardew (don't forget the position we were in he arrived)and Sam, but the challenges he has had to face have been as great, if not greater.

I can't find the comment I made back when FDB was sacked but it was something along the lines he should be given more time and surely we can do better than Roy if he is sacked. Well Roy, when you get to see your son in Florida, stick a large slice of humble pie on the Barbie for me...what you have done for our club is truly amazing...you really are one of our own.
