He is not accountable to anyone. We are his toy.

Perhaps not but they don't have the glaring holes in their squad that we do Conte wanted another striker, Llorente went to Spurs, so unless he has a rapprochement with Costa they will have a hole in their squad. Arsenal sold Oxlade Chamberlain, didn't replace him, Liverpool didn't get Lemar. Newcasle didn't get anyone! I could go on, but almost every club have "glaring holes" in their squads, you just notice ours more because you are closer to the situation.

Count how many clubs have 1 available striker for 4- 5 months. Just as perhaps? One striker that in my opinion is a decent standard? Personally I think Lokilo looks bright and a different option and at a push Zaha, Sako or Schlupp can play there although not the best options. Does Ladapo still play for us? What's his development been like over the summer. should we have bought someone we knew had the potential to be the next Mutch and stuck them on 80k a week as a complete panic buy because the selling clubs played hardball and demanded too much for the options we had earmarked? That said my point isn't about the same position for every team - every single team will have one position that they are worried about an injury.

Parish did brilliantly to bring in Sakho and although a shame we did not bring in a second recognized striker for whatever reason,by all accounts Wickham will be back in a month or two ,so hopefully Benteke stays fit and motivated.

The same denial when Frank started talking 3-4-3 a couple of weeks after everyone started dreaming loads of academy players would be starting in league games.

And to be fair, offering what we have as options isn't dreaming mate, especially when asked about it, it's answering a question. Not once did I say that they are as good as Benteke.

I presumed the thread was a joke. The club is a shambles. It took a month to replace Allardyce. The new manager is a polar opposite from the previous one, yet we only have 4 pre-season friendlies to try and completely change the style of the team. Now we manage just two permanent signings in the window - an unproven Dutch youngster and a player who was great for us last season but is nowhere near being able to play for us. We have failed to score in 7 of our last 8 PL games yet failed to bring in another striker, and even more bizarrely, Anderson, who was the striker on the bench last week, is allowed to go on loan to Swindon. So we now have Benteke and Lapado (and of course Wickham if he is ever fit again).

Parish has only had £600million to play with these past six years so let's not be too harsh. He has achieved a helluvalot. Fireproof cladding was a winner and £20 for a child's ticket is practically giving it away. Edited by Kermit8 (01 Sep 2017 11.47am)

The appointment of Frank maybe so, lets hope parish just sticks his hands straight up so we can replace and move on.

I see much negativity written about Steve Parish. We are hardly and established PL club, in fact most seasons we flirt with relegation and one day the flirting will get us relegated. Currently nil points from 3 games two of which have been at home to teams we should be beating if we want to stay in this league. Our home record in the PL is 26 wins from 78 games, again hardly an established PL team, we have also more managers than most other PL teams in that time. SP may have been good in saving the club from administration, but that is the past and the future is what matters to this club and its consolidation in PL, if we lose our PL place then we lose our income stream that PL provides. It really is time that the board looked at its option as CEO for the future as the current arrangement is becoming stale and needs an injection of new blood at the top. I'm fed up with all these panic buying last minute deals its is about time we had a plan for team development and future targets which under SP seems impossible!
