Decent price (these days) for a quality striker. Go for it Palace, don’t hang about!
Babacar is 1 year away from signing on a free. They're asking 15 million like he's Alexis Sanchez. It's an incredibly large amount. What if he had 4 years left on his contract?

One consideration only. The other, and far more relevant in the January window is how desperate the buying club is - at that point it’s what they’re prepared to pay. I’m not sure how you get the Sanchez situation as a comparison as he only has 6 months on his contract, is demanding £300k+ per week & there is no fee involved (according to his agent) but a straight swap with a player valued circa £30m/€35m (plus agent’s fee). Is Babacar worth £15m to Palace? If he could score a goal every two games then I’d suggest he’s worth considerably more.
Will this be five? It's gonna be five! It IS five! |

Not sure about this guy. Age 24 and still hasn't nailed down a starting eleven place. Who's scouting him? Why take so lomg to buy? A 15million Bruce Dyer in the making.

Additionally Sanchez is reputed to want a £20m signing on fee and his agent wants £5m too so as you said - it's not a fair comparison

Prices for players don't really come down until they are in the last year of their deal. It's not a gradual drop over the course of their contract. That maybe how clubs look at their players on their own books (taking into account fee + wages), but if you've got a player with four years left or three year left on a deal, you're going to be asking the same price for him. If you look at the Alexis Sanchez example, City were happy to pay £60m for him in the summer, it's only now that fee is dropping so far.
Employee of the month is a good example of how someone can be both a winner and a loser at the same time. |
