Sakho came in and made keeping us up against the best strikers in the world look like a walk in the park. Far and away the best centre half ever to pull on a Palace top.
Well, in my opinion, this is patent overhyped nonsense. The best CB we ever had was Warhurst: he was the only one we've ever had who was good enough to play elsewhere (up front) and he played both positions really well. He didn't play for us for very long (bad trouble with injuries) but his class was evident. Originally posted by NickinOX The irony in your post is, the fact that is not Dunning-Krueger!
Yes it is - a type of cognitive bias, with which we overrate things we like (our own 'expertise' and opinions, footballers, music, politicians etc. etc.) and underrate things we don't like (others' differing opinions and 'expertise' etc. etc.). Like I wrote before, Sakho is not as good as the hype. The truth is somewhere in the middle. I think that any available money could be more wisely spent. My opinion. Ridiculous post. Maybe people should take a Daily Mail report with a pinch of salt. Asto your comment about FDB's tactics, what do you base this on? Because brain of Britain we have had one shot on target in two games, no goals and are trying to play possession football with players lacking the quality to string more then 3 passes together and who have been playing counter attacking football for however long. This results in unnecessary and panicked passing at the back, alongside a confusion of formation, which plates up chances that teams with more quality than Huddersfield will score for fun off of. I do not read the Daily Mail you halfwit I based my argument on the fact we have spent less than a lot of Championship clubs this season and on a supposed CB who cannot defend or get a start in the Dutch league. Also, as I'm guessing you do not, I actually go to our games and have painfully witnessed this first hand. Unless you are in fact Jonas Gutierrez I would stick to comic books spiderman.
Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!! |

Hardly worth squabbling over what might have been. Nobody in their right mind would NOT want Sakho in their team after what he did for us last season ... Liverpool don't want to play him but clearly, don't want him to leave permanently either. It's now their call to let him go out on loan to recover his wages.

This is HOL, anything is worth squabbling about. By the way, do you and Percy live with Gordon, Edward, Thomas and Toby or do you also get diesels in Peckham?

It will be interesting to see how this plays out for Pool. Sakho hasn't been playing (is he even back to full health?). So whoever signs him won't have him on the pitch for at least a month (Even when we were desperate, it took Big Sam a month before he played him). Our net spend last season was -£40M, so surely the budget this season isn't huge. Spending it all on Sakho would not be wise. But I think the longer Sakho sits, the less he's worth. Some other team might pony up the cash, but I give that a low chance --we love him more than most. If we sign him, I think it would be on a creative deal that pushes some of the costs back a few years (i.e., "if Palace are still in the Prem in 3 years, £4M extra fee", that sort of thing). Something that could help us eat the cost over time. Perhaps more likely is that no ones pays the £, and Sakho sits at home --unless Pool giving up selling him and loan him out. If he sits at home, then I could see us trying to get him in January, and by then his value would be much lower: a year older, unfit and unwanted. Though if we are at the bottom of the table, they may know we are desperate. Still likely a much lower fee.

All great servants of the club (possibly not so Warhurst) but to say they were better than Sakho is laughable.
