As a bus driver in London, what I would like to know is why every black male under the age 40 has a child bus pass.. In my opinion a lot of young black men have a lack of morals, more so than any other racial group. That's not to say ALL young black men do... but if you look at crime stats, they are over represented.

My comment on blacks under 40 having child bus passes was meant with a bit of tongue in cheek, obviously not all of them, but seems to be 18 to 25 year olds, who seem to have a lack of respect for the laws of the land, and in reply to Hedgehog50 asking do I argue with them, I try to point out the error of their ways, but regrettably out comes the race card, Its cos I'm black init. and Transport for London's policy is they don't want to upset minority groups, so were instructed to let them travel and turn a blind eye, cos they know what goes on, but are prepared to suffer the loss for the sake of harmony, and do other passengers want to sit on the bus for twenty minutes for the police to turn up throw the individuals off knowing all they will do is wait for the next bus, in my experience passengers would normally say, come on driver I want to get home, just let him or them travel, so in the end a bus driver can't win without the support of other passengers...

Hip Hop awards event nearly always a shooting or stabbing & to echo Romfords story Re Buses. Its the same here in NYC. Every other person swipes their card but there are certain parts of the Bronx & Brooklyn where they just let them on for the sake of harmony.

Young black males can't complain about being treated differently if they continually act differently. I'd love it if young black men decided to understand what makes a real man... it isn't being a criminal, it's behaving with dignity/humility and paying your own way. My dad reckons it's down to absent fathers in the black community... I've seen the stats... and it don't paint a great picture, compared to other ethnic groups. For me... it's a factor of many things that hold young black males back... The above creates a environment of underachieving and criminality. Asian/Jews/Chinese/Eastern European all have a work ethic and see the importance in education that young black males don't. My black side of my family mock me for doing (relatively) well in life and for going uni. When I worked as head of HR in the city... they'd take the piss, in a friendly way.. but their banter portrayed a belief that what I was doing... was something beyond their reach... when in reality... they were just as smart as I was/wasn't... but their family/culture/social circle/attitude/morals meant they had very little chance of achieving anything.

Not that it needs to be said.... But I'm obviously not talking about every single black male.

They well may be "small minded t***s" but the underlying problem is that multi-culturalism doesn't really work - people generally prefer to associate with people of their own race, religion, language and culture. Of course there are exceptions, but it is generally true. Of course it works to an extent, for most people. They live around, and work with people of all different ethnicities and cultures, and inter-marry and have relationships. The problem is that some people expect multi-culturalism to be a merging of all cultures, rather than a co-existence (ie too much) and others just reject the idea for differnet reasons. But for most people getting along with their neighbours and co-workers isn't a problem. But there are people of all walks who are opposed to the idea of tolerance, interaction and co-existence because it challenges their agenda, which typically is about isolationism
