I was commenting on your 'theres more of this type of race' point, which was a weak point to make for someone so set on accurate retelling - to which my reasoning makes perfect sense.

Your other point, is essentially that social engineering for movie and tv roles is fine, or at least a reality, for some reasons - commercial - but not for others.

If you want to go down that road though, it may occur to you that what type of on screen social engineering is most profitable at any given moment in time, may not always align well with the quotas or rules that you appear to hold for who is fit to play what role.

How so? Why would there be loads of nonwhite actors in a country with a minority of non whites and where film studios cast mostly whites? That is becoming less of a problem as time goes on but it is hardly a 'weak point' It's just a reality.

I agree there are some characteristics that have occurred across all bonds, the suave cool calculated and brilliant man with unbelievable game with the ladies.

But the Darker bond of the books the actual personality of the man who is a heavy drinker and smoker and has some very rough edges was completely lost for most of the films after Connery. Roger Moore bears very little resemblance in my eyes and it's almost farcical, fun movies but not really the bond of the books. Dalton was a great bond but probably a little ahead of his times. Brosnan was pretty bland. Fun for the movies but lacked depth. I really like the Craig bond. Casino royal and Skyfall in particular were great iterations. His drinking habits are a damaging coping mechanism and the rage bubbling beneath the surface of this cool exterior were really well played out by Craig.

Point is, I don't think being black or white would change a whole lot as long as the bond and the script are well written and the actor does it justice.

You make some good points.

I think Moore was ok for three films...looked the part and had charm... but he stayed way too long...as a contrast from Connery it was ok for a bit but the 'jokey' Bond went on too long.

Dalton is my bird's favourite Bond.... Not mine but I know what you mean...The actor was right but the productions weren't up to it.

Brosnan....ok....but his voice always seemed a bit weedy for me.

Craig does kind of nail it, improving and updating on Connery. Again...He should give way now....Not only is he too old but he keeps slagging off the character of Bond.

If you don't like him don't play him....Bond is modern machismo.....it's play acting a licensed killer, not a study in how to treat people.

Sadly, I don't disagree.

Moffats gorn. The current assistant is lesbian. I can't see it happening.

Eccleston is the best out of all the recent doctors.

There are many talented black British actors doing well in the UK and US too for that matter. There does appear to be a perception that it's easier to get work in the US, though I'd put that down to a class issue more than race related.

We do have talent....Shame we don't have the same talent in writing.....America put us to shame on that.

The 'free' publicity generated with this controversial selection of Doctor is priceless.
'The Sun' gets to the heart of the matter, with intensive research of her acting career to date, alongside some artistic photos of her @r5e and tlt5.

Predictable thread is predictable. Its an average franchisee rules series with little innovation that trots out entertainment by the numbers to a selected profitable demographic.

Am late to the party here but female Dr.Who is about time. Expect shorter stories though as she'll be able to multi-task e.g. kill off The Daleks AND Cybermen within one episode.
