Fair point. I agree there's 3 or 4 players that we should get rid of before dann but these players have little suitors if any. The main thing for me is to get better than we got and reduce the age of our squad.

My ideal would be to sign Sakho aswell , as keeping dann but unfortunately can't see this possible. This is why, I'd sign Sakho because he's the best centre back at Palace, I've seen supporting the club. Scott dann a big earner and if de Boer prefers Tomkins to dann. I'd reluctantly sell dann and bring in a younger centre half aswell as Sakho, maybe someone from holland with potential.

That could work, especially as it seems as Tete now joining Lyon.

Dann is a great player but if we could get 15m for him, and use that to get Sakho for 25, it would be too hard to turn down, given his age. And just because a Palace player might be good enough for England, doesn't mean there's not better.

If FDB prefers Tomkins like big Sam did, can palace afford to have someone on hefty wages sitting on the bench?

I think Dann is getting some unfair stick here, defence is a team responsibility, and one player slightly out of position (defence or midfield) gives problems for everyone else, as they try to cover the gap and always leave a hole that can be exploited by the opposition.
Looking at last seasons premiership games, if (without Sakho) Dann & Tomkins are your first choice pairing, they hardly played together. Our first choice back four at the beginning of the season (Ward, Dann, Tomkins, Souare) never played together. Our lack of cover at left-back exposed our woeful cover in that position. Injuries throughout the season meant we struggled to get a stable defence.
We've now addressed the LB problem, Kelly is cover/completion for Ward at RB and cover for Dann / Tomkins at CB, which leaves us a bit light. We therefore need another CB and possibly a RB as competition / cover, but I think Dann and Tomkins are a long way off being written off.
