I had also considered that, but I'm not one that would simply sling that accusation around for the sake of it...I'll leave that to the others on here to do.

It would only be relevant to the structure of the building and the building regs at that time...clearly we've all moved on since then and we could go back infinitum to find a point in history to lay blame at someones door.

But it doesnt make things better...it simply shows how shallow in thought some are, that they'd use a disaster to push their own agenda. Worse still allow themselves to be used by others agendas by simply dropping their click bait on here.

It is a testament to modern British safety standards that these sort of occurrences are very rare. Questions will be asked and lessons learned that will hopefully increase safety further. That's about all you can say at this stage.

You do realise that the Wilson government was responsible for some of the worst high rises ever built?

I don't give a f***. People have died, it's possible it could have been prevented but for government inaction; warnings were given by concerned residents as we've seen earlier in the thread.
It's possible that the Wilson government is culpable and as such subsequent governments, but as I've said, mp's voted down tighter regs.

Listening to a bloke on radio 4 at the moment talking about all governments not retrospectively fitting sprinklers nor following recommendations from building experts.

I wish to express my heartfelt condolences and solidarity to all those who have experienced this tragedy in particular those who have suffered loss of loved ones.
I empathize with the magnitude of the experience lived by these families.
I vow best recovery and improve to all those who have been injured.
Let us have the sensitivity and humanity to respect the pain and suffering experienced by all involved and it isn't the appropriate time to make any other considerations than to think about the people and their lives.

I have respect for the sentiment but personally I don't agree with calling for people to self censor on a public forum.

If you don't want to say anything that is your choice.

There is no such thing as an appropriate time as that is subjective. No one has to click on the thread.

I do hope they don't call you in for jury service Nick....You do like your trigger finger.

I'm sure that whatever needs to happen will happen. Maybe this would be a better way to spend your activism rather than all that party political stuff you do.

Yeah, when I saw the pictures I was genuinely shocked and fearful. F**king horrific, I couldn't imagine how terrible it would be to be trapped in that.

Anyone responsible should be looking a their own four walls for the rest of their life.

Thank you for your commnent (no irony).
What I was trying to say is even if we've a great opinion or truth to express when we do it in these moments we're giving more importance to our oppinion then the emotions felt by those who're in pain.
Remember for instance what happened during the minute of silence recently involving Saudi Arabia national team.

The facts need to be established before we start throwing blame around.

Having lived on the top floor of a tower block when being brung up, I can only picture the horror. Its really close to home for me. Perhaps that's why I'm so f***ing angry. Those poor poor people. Let down by those we elect and those that cut corners to make a few quid. How much did the 'management company's make over the last few years.

Even those who witnessed the blaze will be traumatised for years. Some might not be able to live with it.

A sad sad day.

Again, I do have respect for what you are saying but we don't stop newspapers or broadcasters so....Still ways of showing sadness for disasters isn't a negative... ..maybe it's a cultural thing here I do think that your tribute to the victims was very respectful in of itself.

I suppose ways of marking silence on forums isn't easy and enforcing it seems a little off.

The facts are that safety concerns from the residence associations were not acted upon.

It is a truly terrifying thought but the Grenfell Action Group firmly believe that only a catastrophic event will expose the ineptitude and incompetence of our landlord, the KCTMO, and bring an end to the dangerous living conditions and neglect of health and safety legislation that they inflict upon their tenants and leaseholders.
