It was the same formula that beat Liverpool too: be compact and defend, and only commit forward both their wingbacks are up field. It's not got a fancy name like gengenpress (it's actually akin to rope-a-dope) but it pitted our strengths - organised defense and lightning fast breaks - against their weakness - over-aggressiveness. Bolton were a drab side hampered by limited resources. What Allardyce did at Palace was something very different that showed his ability to manage the squad he had to get the best results. It's funny. It's almost like he's died because usually only then do people concede "well...he wasn't such a c*** after all."
We don't do possession; we do defense and attack. Everything else is just wa**ing with a football. |

The problem is as a chairman and even us as fans, it's ok wanting a manager with a long term plan for the club, but ALL managers know the score now, they're not around long enough for 'long term' and they're a few bad results on the bounce from the sack, so in any interview they'll say what SP wants to hear knowing they don't really give a toss about the club long term because they probably won't be here!! Isn't that funny as the general consensus was that Parish should have sacked Pardew much earlier than he did as his "few bad results on the bounce" turned out to be almost a year.

Pards history with the club saved him from the boot as Parish so wanted him to be successful. Agreed he should of gone quicker. The new manager will not have that luxury. Also Parish will not want to repeat a period of a brand new Pards error (sic). Will be a conservative appointment.

Thats a brilliant record for any club wxcept those at the very top of the tree, which meqns for Arsenal that's an average record given their levels of expectations.

Can't really sack somebody after getting you to a cup final, no matter how bad the league form is. Keeping us up and a cup final is a good season whichever way you look at it. Should've gone a bit earlier but I'm guessing he wanted to have somebody else in quickly if he did make that move. Looks like he'd been working on SA for a while by the time he did sack AP.

United did, within about five minutes. And they'd won the f***ing thing.
