Of course it is based on football. By both parties.

Wilf is the first name on the sheet every week. He has been bitten on the arse by going to Utd already.

He loves to play football first and foremost

Of course he loves the lifestyle that comes with that

If he plays like he did this season, he will undoubtedly move next year. But we will get good money as he will still have 4 yrs on his contract. I am sure any buy out clause will reflect that.

It has sent out a message that we can compete and any prospective manager will be licking their lips at the thought of working with Wilf.

Lastly, I am not naive to think that money isn't an influence but to discount Wilf's obvious love for this club is ridiculous.

Dear oh dear. Everyone's celebrating the news about Wilf, and you tell us unequivocally that although "he has been bitten in the arse by going to United", "he will undoubtedly move next year."

Explanation?

I wonder if Wilf was invited to suggest who he would like to see as next club manager.

If so, perhaps he might have put in a word for Dougie - the bloke who put him on the springboard to stardom and could yet convert him to the new Ronaldo.

IMO, Steve Parish should at least interview Dougie regardless of what happened re his exit to Bolton.

Just imagine his level of commitment if he took charge.

I don't see any of the aged under-45 candidates (e.g. Monk and Silva) as being able to offer any more than the Scot.

Great, great news! This has really cheered me up after BS resigning. In my 40 years of supporting Palace, Wilf is way up there and definitely in my all time 11. He is one of the very few players that generates excitement when he gets the ball. He is now close to the finished article. What a shame that England management let such a fantastic talent slip through their fingers.

Is it too much to hope Sakho will follow?

No. I think that was the thinking of SP in closing the deal.

Mama next. Getting stability before the end of May? Blimey that's a new concept.

He loves to play football, he loves playing at Palace but he will want to win things. He will want Champions League.

If he plays like he did last season I have no doubt a big club will come in for him again but not like at Utd, where he was meant to develop but as starter in one of top European teams whether PL or abroad.

And look, I may be wrong, just how I see things happening if he has another stonking year. By signing a new contract now he has done us a massive favour. It ends speculation for this summer and ensures he won't go on the cheap

We should interview him for a job running a burger stand

The reason he shouldn't and won't be in contention has nothing whatsoever to do with the manner of his exit from Palace, but everything to do with his managerial record since. Monk and Silva unable "to offer any more" than Freedman? Even Monk's record is a huge improvement on Freedman's; his problem is that, rather like Pardew, he starts like a hare and finishes like an arthritic tortoise. As for there being any comparison between Silva and Freedman, that favours the latter, what have you been smoking?

As proved when he left his level of commitment will depend on how much we pay him.

Loving this news. Should help get a decent manager in.

If we want to end up in League one, bring Dougie back. His performance as a manager elsewhere has been dire
