I don't think we will see any youth players getting a sniff at the moment. Kaikai is the best chance but even he is getting nothing. There is just too much money at stake and most clubs sadly do not take the risks anymore. I think there is a good chance we will go back in for Jenkinson in the summer as he hasn't had any chances since turning us down in January. I think Macguire at Hull could be another defensive option at a reasonable price if we don't get Sakho, although Sam could go back for Kone at Sunderland. There are bound to be a number of players on the radar both here and overseas.Time will tell but I fully support Sam's decisions as January was proof that he really knows what he is doing.
Some people are like Slinkies … not really good for anything, but you can’t help smiling when you see one tumble down the stairs. |

Does anyone know if we have a decent RB in the acedemy. I'd love Sam to bring through a RB or any defender for that matter to play understudy. Think Sam would relish bringing some players through whilst spending money on the core of the team. Feel true blessed that we have big sam at the helm. Let's strengthen the really weak areas. CB, Keeper, DM cover, RB cover, playmaker cover, additional striker. Can't for the life of me imagine we can afford 7 top quality players even if Sam can find some steels. So that being the case I hope some of the kids are good enough to start earning their keep. COYP Agree with this. I'm sure the budget will be made available. Even if we have to move on mcarthur or dann to fund them. The budget will be interesting. A lot of fans concerned about FFP. We don't want to end up in a similar situation to pulis where not enough funds were available. We can't afford big Sam to leave similar to tp. He mentioned in the presser after about taking the club to the next level. Also about the players you release that a better quality has to be found before considering a release on any player.

If he can find better quality than Zaha I shall be f***ing surprised.

I used to think Hennessey but since the new coach came in, Im very impressed! Hes confident, he tells the back four!! he comes and catches, takes the free kicks,.. very confident player now and I think he will get better, sure everyone has an old off day, or a weak spot, but doesnt every player!! We've discussed this before. This was my view a couple of weeks ago and I've not changed it. Out of our current squad, who are nailed-on for the starting XI? I'd suggest: Tomkins There or thereabouts: Hennessey In bold are those positions could do with an upgrade. The others need some competition. Can't see any future for: Mutch Souare - impossible to say what will happen

That is the crux of the matter. Even on Sunday, a drop of 1 place will cost us £1.9m. Noone has really come through since Jonny Williams and that was about 6 years ago. You do wonder what is going on with our academy though as with a massive catchment area we should be doing better at bringing through good youngsters. I'd still like to see Dreher or Kaikai given some time on Sunday if that game is won/lost with 10/20 mins to go.

Are you serious? Both are slow and not that great. Maguire last Sunday was exposed for pace by Wardy, and he is not the quickest full back! Jenkinson cannot even make the Arsenal bench right now, and they are (by their standards) not that great either. Even we thrashed them 3-0 at home this season!
