I have been watching and supporting Palace since the 68/69 and this season has not been the worse by any stretch of the imagination.

I have vivid memories as a kid of standing on a bank of mud at the Holmesdale end with rivers of p*** running over my boots in the cold and watching 2 division footy although we got promoted that year is not something I want to repeat thank you very much.

So give me a relegation battle watching prem football in an all seater stadium will do me nicely

Record crowd 51,482 - The Whitehorse was rocking - Second Div Champs 1978 - 79 ... 'wot a night !

Yes I remember this vividly !

And yes I recall going to Cardiff for an evening game and us only drawing and going down to the old 'Division Three'.These WERE bad days, certainly not "Good old days" !

If we get relegated, and its a big "IF" it will be losing to Sunderland 0-4 at home that did it for me in particular.

That performance considering the level of the opposition was arse rippingly awful, worse than the one against a City side that are easily in the top 8 clubs in Europe, whereas Sunderland have only won 3 away games all bloody season ! And one of those was against us !! Burnley have only one 1 away all season, guess who that was against ?

What this has shown beyond any shadow of doubt is that our defenders, Bar Sakho and Tomkins, and on his day Dann, are not up to the premiership.

If we stay up Big Sam needs to be banging SP's door down to buy Sakho, another right back, a keeper, an attacking midfielder (punch isn't up to it) and that's the bare minimum.

1974 Willo I was there as well.
That season we went 16 games without a Win.
Allison made the pitch wider for the first game of the season,Notts County.
We lost 4-1,he made the pitch smaller for the next game.!!!

Palace 13th 2017/18.

I went on a coach.
After the game we tried to find some consolation in our wretched relegation - A song was started up :

"We dont care that we've gone down, doo da, doo da, we don't care that we've gone down we'll be back next year"

We didn't get back next year and I think we spent 3 seasons in 'Division Three'.

With respect I've lived and watched through the Gradi, Walley and Mullery eras. I don't give a monkey's about how fantastic the Premier league season is and care only that we do well and stay at the top table.

I don't think you are properly reading the posts that you are replying to. I agree with you and I have said the same thing as you.

The point that I was trying to make to you is that your allegation of a "cretinous comment" was because you had taken the post that you replied to out of context.

The length of time that you have supported Palace is not relevant to the ability to properly read the posts of others.

Best part of £100m spent this season and we have been terrible. A few highlights over the last 6 weeks but overall a dog awful season with survival right now a 50/50 shot.

If we do stay up then I really think Sam could build a half decent squad and get into mid table but we always hit the self destruct button so I'm not holding my breathe.

The ups and downs of Palace have left me older than my years

Mate, how can you say survival is 50/50.

If we win or draw at home against Hull then we stay up. If we lose then Hull have to beat Spurs otherwise we stay up. If Hull then beat Spurs then we have to beat Manchester United to stay up.

If we lose to Hull then I will give you 50/50. But at the moment I would say we are well ahead of Hull.

If you can find a bookie to give you those odds then I will take them.

Originally posted by Willo supporters enjoyed supporting the Palace just as much whether it was div3 or not. I often wonder when the next pixel monster bemoans how god awful the team is and how rubbish it is supporting Palace why they just don't do us all a favour a go to chelski or wherever. Supporting the Palace for me has never been purely been about success and good play. As much as anything it is about that raised eyebrow when we go 1 up against at top 6 club in first 5miunters and wondering if we can hang on to the4 lead for next 85 minutes
