Its not the drinks or buying the drinks, its the intention behind plying someone with drinks that is highly suspect. Its what it says about how we view women and sex, that we'd defend someone who exploits someone who is drunk to solely gratify their own sexual desire, and the inherent disregard that entails of a women as a person.

If it was a man, getting someone drunk, raping them and claiming consent, then we'd likely see a much harsher sentencing of sex offenders, as well as a systematic destruction of the idea of 'victim blaming'.

There is a massive problem in the UK with dealing with men who are 'out of order'. Few make it to court, even less end with convictions, and the sentencing for those convicted is quite light - given the severity - With minimal efforts available towards rehabilitation once in prison.

We're failing to protect women on a drastic scale.

Hyperbole, but we do know that there is a problem in society with sexual violence against women, and that there is a casual acceptance of predatory males.

No, but I'd say that women who are raped, and sexually assaulted, deserve justice, and that far to many rapists get away to do it again, because we spend far to much time and effort protecting them over the women they have brutalised and violated.

Its absurd that so many women are raped, and so few rapists end up in prison, given that its regarded as the second most serious crime, behind murder. If our murder conviction rate was even twice that of rape convictions, we'd call it a monumental failure.

That's just being absurd (and I know that you know it). Consent is given as easily as willingly participating in sex. Someone passed out or so out of it that they can't engage in the act is - clearly - unable to consent.

Here's a free tip: if she's that wasted, be a man and get her back to her friends or get her home. If she likes you, she'll definitely f*** you next time because you're awesome. If she doesn't like you, you've just avoided raping her. Win-win.
