The usual bunch of Kumbayistas. Do you notice a pattern here? Bush Bad, Trump Bad. No mention of the Russians, Obama, ISIS Etc.

Perfectly sums up why the political left are a spent force in the UK really.

Let's criticise anyone and everyone who has a plan to stop the use of chemical weapons while offering no solutions themselves and verbally trampling down anyone who doesn't agree with them.

Classy!

I'd happily tell you about my plan, however sadly I doubt you or anyone else would care.

From what I understand about Trumps plan however is that he intends to use his 'Nixon-esk' unpredictability as a weapon here. Dictators tend to walk over wishy washy politicians. Obama (who I quite admired) was sadly a very poor president (foreign policy wise) as he used to assume that everyone would play by the rule book, his rule book. Do you remember his 'red line' that was continuously flouted by Assad and by some degree Russia? What Trump seems to be doing is fighting fire with fire. Where he deems a war crime to have occurred he has little hesitation about just launching cruise missiles to make his point. By bypassing congressional and international oversight he cuts right through to Assad by saying "you can hide behind whoever you like, but if you do 'cross the line' there will be consequences".

Now, I can already sense your trigger warnings activating so I will quickly interject by saying that whatever Trump is doing - it's a bad idea. But it seems to be the least worse course of action so far. I'm still waiting for a solution from the left which doesn't involve 'doing nothing'.

Trump also has a choice, he can go on launching haymaker punches at Assad from an arms length in the form of cruise missile strikes to the heart of this regime, or he can turn to John McCain who Trump despises. He published a plan to go a step further. From my understanding he wants a no fly zone over Syria, taking Assad's airforce out of the fight altogether. He wants to arm specific factions of the Free Syrian Army to enable them to defend themselves against Russian airstrikes and seek a universal agreed timetable to the end of the Assad regime. Once again, I'm not here to defend Trumps plan, i'm sure you could pick it apart in about 10 minutes, but it is a plan none the less.

Which bit deserves the dig, that it is too early to make definitive comments about WMD, or that Matt is a supporter of the ring wing?

PS I do realise that ATM it is highly contentious to mix NAZIs with Zionists, or to think at any point in history they may have had similar agendas. Even if worth a decent discussion. just ask Livingstone.

Just as an aside, did you know that the only people who didn't refer to the Nazis as Nazis were the Nazis themselves. It was actually viewed as an insult.

F*cking snowflakes.

I can categorically state that I have never been a supporter of the 'ring wing'.

I don't even know what the 'ring wing' is. Sounds like a secret WW2 Air Force bumming circle.

You are better than that.

The dig was aimed at your pop at (bonkers I accept) uphimself:

"As a supporter of the Jewish ultra right, what type of Government would you want in Syria?"

This is what I then posted.

"people might form the view that you (when unguarded) see no distinction between zionists and Jews per se...the kind of thing closet anti-semites (not to be confused with anti zionists per se) so vehemently deny is the case"

Well done for dodging the point under the guise of moving into a discussion about Ken,Zionists and nazis. Since you are seemingly interested in similarities between Nazis and present day ideologies in the Middle East, have a look at the Hamas charter, which has somewhat more in common with the Nazi view of the world.Funnily enough, never heard Ken mention that.

And for the record, yes there is a discussion to be had about Nazis and Zionists in the 1933-45..I've read about the topic widely, just that the discussion is far from the simplistic twaddle served up by Ken .People in desperate times under dire threat "sup with the devil",have done all through history, even "us".Doesn't make them the devil too.Difficult times breed horrendous dilemmas, viz Kasztner in Hungary in 1944.

What you have to remember is that our not-so-funny friend here equates any form of support for Israeli people injured in Palestinian terror attacks as being overt support for building settlements in Jerusalem.

It is one of the things he likes to post every now and again. Thirty or so years ago, his sort would have been given ECT and caretaker jobs at schools.

This post is good... and I do care, since you ask.

I always thought Obama was going to be a good and effective world leader, but he talked the talk and didn't walk the walk.

In essence he was as effective in negotiating peace as Neville Chamberlain was in 1938.

Putin and Assad clearly have/had no respect for Obama and the USA's stomach for a fight under Obama's presidency and just like Herr Hitler chanced their arm with a chemical weapons strike again because nothing bad happened last time.

Trump has now grabbed the bull by the horns and instead of issuing gutless "threats" like Obama, he has waded in with an attack on a Syrian airfield.

Putin and Assad will now think twice before taking liberties again... and maybe innocent children/babies will not die a horrific death choking on Sarin nerve gas.

Anyone who believes the Russians/Assad were not responsible for the chemical weapons being used and think it was ISIS or some unfortunate accident are deluding themselves.

Trump is the new sheriff in town and he's not keeping his gun in his holster.

Why is he suffering from clinical depression?

He is definitely in a catatonic state. However, short bursts of electricity don't seem to be lifting from that.
