I don't care if you are Martin mcguinness or Nelson Mandela, the killing of innocent people is wrong. Fine I understand that oppression and the fight for freedom...but take it to the people who make the decisions...not people shopping or buying fish and chips.

I mentioned earlier in the thread that peace talks happened, or the catalyst for them was something to do with informers. I can't remember the details but the ex squaddie I spoke to seemed to think so. It might've been the RUC were buying and gathering up so many the IRA knew their time was up soon. I can't remember exactly but that sounds logical. If it were the other way round and Major's government were running out of money then I guess they could've been offering better terms to the IRA and Paisley had to cooperate. I can't remember what he said. Maybe others close to it know.

The BBC then goes and undoes its obsequious fawning and arse licking by referring to LONDONderry.

A man who took some big risks and in his later life no doubt contributed towards the peace process. On the other hand without doubt was inextricably linked to the cold blooded murder of many innocent people and escaped justice. I won't lose any sleep over his death.

Albeit a murdering equal citizen. The sad thing is, it took hundreds of people to die before everyone had equality. Both sides killed all around them, it doesn't make it right though.

The prospect of a lorryload of unionists in De valera's cosy little closed-shop was a step too far for this psychopath.
