Before SA arrived I thought we had a group of players that had talent but looked disorganised. That lacked natural left sided players. Had no ball winning midfield player to shield the defence.Lacked the physical and mental capacity to see games out. The previous manager had barely deviated from the tactics that had not worked throughout 2016. After a month under SA, I think he's assessed the squad, recognised it's deficiencies and begun to address them. He's changed the shape of the team. The club have signed players in the positions where we were lacking. And for the first time in a long time, the team showed the resolve needed to get a result, as at Bournemouth on Tuesday. The ' green shoots ' of recovery. A win that has given everybody a lift. But a long way to go yet. However I think we have the right man for the job and I think we will see the investment that the club made in January, pay off. Time for positive thinking.

Very fair post, Neillo, and pretty much spot on after Tuesday. Bournemouth should have scored a couple but they didn't so tough titty for them. Sunderland, if we don't focus 100% and get a result, draw wouldn't be ideal but not disastrous, is, by far, the biggest defining game now. We simply can't afford to lose it for so many reasons.

Early days but there have been some encouraging signs. I was disappointed with our early performances under him, I didn't expect to start winning but I thought we would start to look more organised far quicker than we did. We seemed to go backwards. Everton, Bournemouth and even City to a degree were better performances. We now have a bit of balance to the team and Allardyce appears to have done well in the window. I still have my doubts about Sakho, not his ability but his temperament. As with the others, time will tell. The team which includes Alllardyce need our support, whether you wanted him here or not (I didn't) he is now our manager. Trying to undermine him undermines the club

Then a smart arse like me comes along and picks that person up for extending the boring pardew chat. Then someone else, who's maybe not quite full shilling, wades in calling Pardew a rude name. Then someone else thinks. f*** it. I'm in. I hated that guy pardew. I'll just say something. Before you know it, the intellectual colossi* of HOL -- bexleydave and Rudin hedman -- are having it. *doesn't look right as the plural of colossus but there you go Yes I found fault with Pardew because people before me did. Of course. How did I let myself be persuaded by the frothing crowd to not embrace the 6 games without a win, 6 league wins in a year (the same)? Being individual and defending something doesn't make someone knowledgeable. Pardew does well for a time and then it goes to sh1t so he's out. Now time for the Allardyce bashes to not do what they accuse us off and keep quiet. Edited by Rudi Hedman (03 Feb 2017 9.41am)

Well, everyone has fixated on the last few games but lets balance right, Everton we were good for a point and Bournemouth we well and trully put to the sword. We are now basicly a midtable side that have to start cut adrift at the bottom. We are miles ahead of the teams around us in terms of quality and we have a manager who should be able to get us a few cheeky points against the big sides, a few lucky wins against decent teams and finish sides at the bottom.

I think it's only fair to judge Sam on the transfer window for now rather than his results. (Even though Paul Clement has had a flyer)

Employee of the month is a good example of how someone can be both a winner and a loser at the same time. |

I was highlighting the mistake on your name. You may think I was having a dig, but no. I was jumping on the sentiment on this thread. Calm down. I actually agree with GPW's posts. You can't count though, there was at least five words.
