Edited by Pigglelet (11 Jan 2017 10.23am) I've always had huge faith in him and 8 in 18 is impressive considering how poor we've been but it's interesting watching him in that video for Villa, seems we should just try and play him the ball in the box only, any kind of ball, and he can use it to score rather than just lumping it at him. It's very noticeable how many of those goals for Villa come from players getting to the byline then hitting him in the penalty box, Also interesting how his first 2 penos in it he took fairly normally and buried them but then he started doing this style we've seen him use and even back then miss some, he should probably go back to a normal, hit it quick and hard technique like the first 2 in that clip ! Regards selling him I'd only understand it if some batsh1t mental Chinese club stump up something like £50 million for him but it'd be a huge gamble trying to get players in by deadline day !
Nice one Daz: [Link] CPFC 2010 - Stable and Realistic Owners at last ! Roll on Premier League Season 2013/2014 ! Great to be back at last ! PSN = eaglist |

Yes and crossed in by right-footed players from the right and left-footed from the left and not 'inverted' (my arse!) wingers cutting in. Also, he was scoring a lot more from balls played in low.

Well, that and us having someone already lined up. There's simply no way that a Premiership or European side will cough up the sort of money we'd want for Benteke in a January window. To sell our only credible goal threat with no replacement AND dropping money on the deal is, to me, utterly inconceivable. On balance, my verdict is that the story is sh*te.

Not quite sure if you understand, but the reason wingers cut in is to allow full back to overlap, creating overloads in last third of the pitch Problem with Palace, especially now under Sam, is that FBs are strictly under instruction to not overlap wingers. If that is the case, the Zaha should indeed be on the right, and Townsend on the left, to create more crossing opportunities for Big Ben

Hardly a thread closer is it? It rules out a move to China, but doesn't deny the possibility of his leaving in this window.

He does work the defence. Hence the goal he scored against Southampton, and the penalty he won at Watford. Passing ability? Again, he needs to have someone he can actually pass to for that to be used. Bottom line, we paid for someone who scores goals and he has done that. For such poor performance, his record is pretty good no? Imagine if we concentrate on getting the best out of him rather than replacing him after he's barely got started. In the Villa footage, he seems to have a lot more hunger, putting himself about more, and yes, Villa seem a lot better at reaching him in a greater variety of balls in and through the middle. They got the best out of him. I dont think Palace have yet. With two good wingers we naturally try to reach him just through crosses. Him and Remy could work really well together. Alternatively, if someone like Brady comes in and is played as attacking CM, that too could provide assists

BFS is supposed to be a manager. Benteke has undeniable talent and it's BFS' job to motivate him to get it out of him.
